though there were characters that I didn't expect to have quips had some

Maybe Atreus and Mimir and some other characters but, I think it's cause Mimir is there from the start, Brok and Sindri; you meet them in the last game, but see them only sporadically.

Plus this game just has a bigger cast in general.

Didn't feel like, oh idk, I Marvel movie pushes up anime glasses.

I do think that Mimir was certainly a bit more quipy and I do think the meta comedic relief companion joke was a bit much, but they balanced that out with some super deep and emotional moments so I didn't mind

I like it when it's used as a pallete clenser

Like the Yakuza games- they get dark as firetruck but the quirky light hearted stuff eases the tension.

Plus, feels more realistic. Life is like that.

I do find it funny how Ragnarok was casually like

"Yeah Kratos was there for the Trojan War, and fought in 300 probably."

"Also Macbeth actually happened."
