leaks are nowadays way more popular than normal marketing and these companies know that

blizzard does this frequently with WoW expansions where they "leak" stuff by themselves on 4Chan or through content creators and everytime this happens people get hyped

Blizzard also uses this kind of strategy to plant false information so people don't know immediately what the next expansion is about
