Oh crap was that Roxas's heart. It suddenly starteed beating faster when Axel kissed his forehead... Wait he kissed his forehead?!?

 

Roxas wasn't angry... for whatever reason. He wasn't sure what the hell he was feeling.

 

"W-What has that for?"

 

Not a good sign. Vanitas immediately regretted asking.

 

"So?" Riku laughed. "The world is full of odd occurences anyway. Why question them?"

Axel smiled. "For being a good friend." Axel walked over to his bed and covered himself with blankets. "Now go eat."

Namine didn't know what to do. Obviously, Vanitas would be hurt if she didn't do anything. She swallowed her fear and embarrassment. Namine looked to the sky and sighed. Slowly, she put her head in the crook between Vanitas' chest and arm. She didn't say anything.

 

She just closed her eyes and smiled.

"Right." Aqua smiled. She seemed to do that a lot with Riku. As soon as they were out of the driveway, she extended a hand towards Riku's hand. When she took his free hand in hers, she looked at him.

 

"Thank you for everything, Riku."

Roxas, a good friend? He was surprised Axel thought that. But happy.

 

"Get better soon," he said with a smile, before leaving the dorm. He wasn't sure where he was going to go. Not eat. He already did that. But he did want Axel to get better and he needed to rest.

 

Yes? No? Why couldn't Vanitas understand women?! He wasn'ta mind reader sadly. But judging by Namine's expression... he would assume it was a yes.

 

He sighed. Relief? Happiness? Both? At least she didn't get up and leave. He couldn't help but put his arms around her and hug her, breathing in her sweet scent.

 

"I'm taking that as a yes...?" Sure that sounded lame but Vanitas had to know for sure. Hopefully his mind wasn't playing tricks on him.

 

 

"For what exactly?" Riku didn't really think he did anything that needed thanking for. He would do anything for Aqua, no thank yous required.

Axel smiled. After he saw Roxas leave, he decided to go back to sleep. He really liked him and that kiss was as far as he could go. It wasn't even first base.

 

NO. Get out perverted Axel.

Namine's chest constricted wen he asked that. She let out a shaky laugh and wrapped her arms around his waist. Was this really happening? She swuezzed him just to make sure.

 

Yeah. This was real. And with that one word, he'd be hers...

 

"Yeah."

Aqua laughed once. "For being there, for saving me, for protecting me, for befriending me, an other countless things." She started to stroke his hand with her thumb. They were ice cold so she was trying to warm them.

 

"Yeah, for that stuff."

Vanitas couldn't believe it. He wanted to ask again, just to make sure. He wasn't high or anything right? He wasn't on drugs right?

 

She said yes. He couldn't believe it.

 

He held Namine close, feeling like maybe he was on drugs. What other reason would he be so happy? Like he was on cloud 9? Namine was his drug. Not that he minded. He was perfectly happy being addicted to her.

 

"That's nothing to thank me for. Anyone would've done that." Luckily, it was Riku that did though. He was grateful to have met someone as great as Aqua.

Namine held Vanitas for a moment. But then, she had thought. If they were together, did they have to...She looked up at Vanitas, taking a hold of his shirt. She blushed darkly and looked away. It would probably uncomfortable to ask but...

 

"So...should we...uhm...kiss..?"

 

She had never had her first kiss. She was nervous of course but...she wanted Vanitas to have whatever he wanteed. Whatever made him happy.

Riku was being too modest. It made Aqua smile and she sat back in her seat, looking out the window. How did she ever deserve someone like Riku?

Vanitas would've fainted. That's if he wasn't himself. Wait he wasn't... Well, he didn't faint but he wanted to. Kiss? Namine? He would love to. But it felt too soon. Way too soon. He didn't want to ruin it by rushing it.

 

"W-We don't have to... Not yet atleast," he wasn't even sure how to answer.

 

"What are you thinking about?" Riku couldn't help but ask. He kept his eyes on the road although he wanted to keep looking at Aqua. He didn't want to crash though. That wouldn't be very good for the first date, right?

 

Oh that word. Riku wanted to believe it was a date. Even Aqua said so. But he somehow knew it wasn't really.

Namine smiled as her blush faded away. He was being nicer, his attitude was changing... Namine smiled and blushed happily as she hugged Vanitas tighter. She felt so happy, so secure. She wanted to thank him for making her so glad.

 

So she go on her knees and pecked his cheek.

 

"Nothing, really. Just. Wondering." She turned back to Riku and then to the road again. She just liked to be in here. In his company.

 

"I just... like your presence, is all."

Vanitas's face went red.

 

Now, if this is what a peck on the cheek made him feel like, he wasn't sure if he would be ready to actually kiss Namine. He'd die of an overload of emotions. His heart would explode. And he wasn't even joking.

 

"Really? I thought you found me a nuisance," he was kind of joking, but in reality sometimes he felt like that. He was so relieved that he wasn't.

Namine pulled away and looked at Vanitas. He was frowning... She extended a hand towards his face.

 

"Vanitas, are you-"

 

Bam. A soccerball hit Namine right in the face.

 

It felt like someone hand placed a plate on her face and punched it. She only saw the soccerball fall off her face. Then, she just had a shocked look on her face. She moved her hand.

 

Nose? Ouch. Forehead? Ow. Cheeks? Augh.

 

She couldnt form any facial expressions but she looked towards where the ball came from. All the guys hand pretty stunned faces. She saw Sora and Tidus. Quickly, on catching Namine's gaze, they pointed to each other.

 

"It was him!" they chimed.

 

Aqua shook her head. "Not at all Riku. Quite the opposite.You keep me interested with every word you say. And its wonderful, the way you think. Of course, you're terribly modest. That's your only flaw."

"Namine! Are you okay?!" He looked over to where Namine's gaze was and saw his little brother and one of his obnoxious friend.

 

"It was him!

 

Oh Vanitas would get them both. He'd make sure they'd regret what they did, even if it was an accident. No one would hurt his Namine.

 

"Only one flaw? As if. I'm pretty sure I have way more. You're just being nice." He smiled as they finally pulled up to the resturant. Olive Garden. His wallet was going to hurt later but it was worth it.

Namine touched her forehead again. Her hand was trembling from shock. As her finger came in contact with her head, she flinched. It hurt. Bad. She closed her eyes shut and felt tears well up in her eyes...

No! She can't cry! Not in front of Vanitas!

Aqua got out of the car and looked at the sign. Olive Garden? Did Riku have enough money to afford this place? He was a college student so that was kind of unbelievable. She just shrugged and decided shed help with the payment, even if Riku refused.

Vanitas was ready to get up and beat up his little brother and his friend to but stopped when he saw Namine close to tears.

"Namine..." He touched her face gently and then scowled turning to face the two idiots who hurt her.

"Apologize. Now."

 

"Shall we?" Riku had already gotten out of the car and walked over to open Aqua's door. He thought he was being quite charming right now. Even Riku had to admit that to himself.

Sora ran over to Namine, seeing her on the verge of tears. He kneeled beside her and hugged her tightly. He stroked her blonde hair and shushed her over and over.

 

"Sorry, Nam'. You'll be okay. No need to cry." At that, Sora wiped away her tears and kissed her eye.

 

Namine hugged Sora back. She couldn't help but smile at his words.

Aqua giggled. She walked in and smiled.

"We shall."

Vanitas felt that familiar twinge of jealousy. Why was his brother so close to her?

 

He immediately was able to get a table for two (handing the hostess a bribe) and walked closely next to Aqua as they were led to their table. Immediately he pulled out Aqua's chair for her.

Aqua raised an eyebrow.

 

"I'm surprised Riku. I didn't know you were so chivelrous." Aqua laughed, sittting in her chair. She could tell that today, she would have a good lunch.

Namine let go of Sora and smiled. She wiped the remaining tears out of her eyes and sat back with Vanitas. She gave a forgiving look to Sora. He smiled too, ruffling her hair a bit before running back with the soccer ball. He waved bye to Namine and she did the same.

 

"It's alright, Vanitas."

"Chilvary isn't dead yet. Not as long as I'm alive." He sat down as well, picking up the menu.

"You can order anything you like by the way." He smiled. He'd give Aqua anything she wanted, even if he had to give an arm and leg.

 

Vanitas let out a sigh and sat close to Namine, almost clinging to her.

"Say Namine, how did you meet my brother?"

Vanitas was curious on how they became friends.

Namine paused and tried to remember.

 

"One day, when I was about seven, I went to the park with my older cousin. I went to the bathroom but when I came outside, he wasn't there anymore. I wandered around, looking for him for hours. It got dark and it was raining. That's when Sora came. He smiled and took my hand, asking me who I was looking for. He then took me to his own house and they called my parents. The next morning, they told me my cousin Seifer was dead from a gang attack that occured."

 

Her voice died down at the last sentence. She missed her cousin dearly...

 

Aqua smiled. He was such a gentleman and so kind...She browsed through the menu but then closed it.

"I'll have whatever you'll have Riku. You seem to have good taste."

Sora never mentioned Namine. Not once. Vanitas didn't even know that she had already been is his own home once.

Her cousin dead in a gang fight? Even Vanitas thought that was a terribly sad thing and just a horrible way to go.

He saw her face sadden a bit. Talking about her cousins death must be hard for her.

Vanitas wasn't sure what tosay. He wasn't good with these things.

Instead, without a word he gave Namine a what he hoped was a comforting hug.

 

Riku smiled.

The waitress who had conveniently been just steps away came by to take their orders.

 

"We'll have two Tour Of Italy's," Riku gave a smile to Aqua, "And to drink I'll just have a glass of water." He set down his menu and looked over to Aqua. "What would you like to drink?"

Namine just layed her head on Vanitas' shoulder in response. She didn't know what else to say. Then, when the conversation was over, she spoke.

 

"But your brother makes me so happy. I feel...I feel like nothing can bring me down when I'm with him. He just has this...impact on people..."

 

She snuggled closer to Vanitas, if even possible, and sighed.

 

"Kind of like you."

 

Aqua smiled at the waitress. "I'd like water also, please."

When she left, she just shot a nervous look at Riku. "Sorry. I haven't came here so I'm kid of nervous."

"That's suprising," Vanitas laughed. Kind of. It was more of a forced laughter. "He and I are nothing alike."

 

He always saw him and Sora as polar opposites, complete on opposite sides of the spectrum. His brother was basically a loveable idiot. Even Vanitas had to admit, there were times were he was able to love the kid as his brother instead of acting like he was annoyed and hated him and ect.

 

Vanitas was well... not unlikeable, not immediately anyways. But he frightened people, purposely or by accident.

 

To know that he made her feel happy like his own brother did was an odd sort of compliment to Vanitas.

 

"Don't be nervous." He reached over the table to put his hand over hers, hoping that and maybe a smile would comfort her.

Aqua smiled and took his hand in hers, not noticing her fingers coiling around his. She looked into his eyes for a moment but then blushed, realizing she held his hand. Aqua pulled her hand away and his it under the table.

 

"I don't think that helped." She laughed, nervously.

 

Namine looked around the park, obviously looking for something. She smiled in excitment when she found them.

 

"Swings!"

 

Namine stood and rushed over to them. It wasn't that she was immature, but she adored swings. They made her feel like she could do anything, even fly. Just the sensation of having wings made her happy. Namine sat on the plastic seat and pushed herself off the ground in a couple of kicks.

"What, is my charm wearing off now?" Maybe a joke would help lessen the tension? Sure, that probably wasn't the most hilarious thing ever, but he'd get a laugh or two.

 

Vanitas watched as Namine suddenly sprung up, making her wait to the swings. She looked so childish and innocent as she sat in the small plastic seat. Vanitas stood and walked over to the swing set, just to get a better look at the smile on her face.

Aqua swallowed hard. Why was she blushing? Did she... No she couldn't. Riku was her student. It'd be...well...Riku doesn't like her that way so it'd never work. Besides, it'd cause a big dramafest at the school. It was best not to let it happen.

 

Although she still felt nervous, she smiled. "No, nevermind. I'm...I'm fine."

As Namine swung high into the air, she saw Vanitas coming towards her. She didn't ming and kept on swinging. Then, something jolted in her head.

 

"You think Mr.Braig will give me back my phone after school?"

Riku stared at Aqua. Why was she so nervous? Embarrassed. Something on her mind was troubling her. But before he could ask the waitress came by, with their drinks.

"Your food will be out in few," she said with a smile. "If you need anything don't hesitate to ask. And I mean anything." She gave a wink to Riku before turning around.

 

"If he doesn't I can always steal it back." Vanitas smirked. It'd be fun to do that. It's been a while since Vanitas had a rush of adventure. Even if stealing back a phone wasn't exactly and adventure.
