What was Hades' plan in BBS?

Recommended Posts

I believe that Zack was killed by Sephiroth, as indicated by the black feather shown during the mid-credits scenes featuring the Disney characters.  Assuming that Zack and Cloud were friends in some way, that would explain part of Cloud’s hatred for Sephiroth (aside from what’s already been established).

Can’t speak to Hades’ plans, though, I believe he wanted Terra to kill Hercules and for him to have to succumb to darkness to do it (hence why he had him fight an empowered Zack). Just my theory, though.

Hades plan in the Kingdom Hearts games was always the same plan like in the Hercules animated movie. He just wants to take over Mount. Olympus and overthrow Zeus. In BBS Hades wanted to use both Zack and Terra as his pawns for darkness to kill Hercules and take over Olympus. As for Zack well he was definitely killed by Sephiroth in BBS. I believe it was a reference or Easter egg of their connection in Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7.

Hades wanted to have Terra fall to darkness so he could use him to overthrow Zeus, but when Terra didn't rely on darkness, Hades tried to tempt him by controlling his next opponent in the coliseum (who happened to be Zack).

One thing I've always found interesting is how Hades and Hercules never actually see or reference each other during BbS, so I've always thought of it as a neat nod to the original movie where Hades doesn't know Hercules is still alive at this point in time, hence why his attention is on overthrowing Zeus specifically.

As for Zack, no one actually knows what happened to him after BbS. My interpretation is that his fate was kept vague so that, in Nomura/FF7 fashion, the players could speculate on what happened to him and how it may tie into both Sephiroth and Cloud in later games. Unfortunately, that makes me believe he won't come back in the future, but it would definitely be cool if he did (especially in another BbS game).

In the animated series of Disney's Hercules, which happens in the middle of the movie, during the training that turned Hercules for a slim boy to a muscled hero, Hades' main objective was to eliminate Hercules before the date when he could free the Titans arrived. Also, he was recruiting all the monsters he could for his army. This was a clear continuity error, because in the movie, Hades didn't know Hercules was still alive until he finished his training and was already muscled; that's when he met Megara for the first time and Megara told him about her encounter. However, in the tv series, Hades already knew Hercules was still alive and tried to eliminate before the moment to free the Titans and conquer the Olympus arrived.

Anyway, Hades' plan was clearly the same from the series: Eliminate Hercules so he won't stop him from conquer Olympus (as the Fates prophetized) and gather as many warriors and monsters he could to attack Olympus. According to what we saw in the movie, we can assume Hades' army was erradicated by Hercules as he tried to use them to eliminate him (as we saw in the musical numbre "From Zero to Hero"), leaving him with only the Titans to conquer the Olympus.

You know? Something I don't understand from KH3 is, if they managed to make boss battles for all the Titans, why they didn't use the Cyclops too?

Either if he knew herc was alive or not, that doesn't change the fact Hades was gathering an army to attack and conquer Olympus.
