(Thread name came from the whole idea of a fire, in a forge, but it's stupid, I know. :|) This is for Stardustblade, who also made a request for a background which I am working on currently. Enjoy!

I tought it is quite simple, maybe you could add something to the background, I mean it's just a black spotted background, with details under the text and behind the Ven. I guess, that spotted background could have some more details on it (patterns, brushs, effects coming from the image or the letters) .

But it's a nice beginnig, no doubt, after just a few techniques (and/or pratices) I'm sure you can go far. :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D::D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

btw, the image is well cut out of the back ground and if you put the background a little lighter (at least around Ven), you would show off your skills on cutting and croping things off pictures :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Now, I finally finished the Roxas/Xion background that Stardustblade requested. I think personally it looks really good, but tell me, what do you guys think?

Well, it's your best so far from what I know. But I think the colors don't blend so well, and the picture of Roxs and Xion in the middle is a bit off, if you used some different tones that were aa bit closer to the black and white of the stocks (or used a sepia tone on the stock) it could be better, you're good at cropping from what I can see, the brushes are good as well, the only thing that really bothers me is the colors.

The middle picture, like Gizzy said. Makes it off. And I think the orange part of the wings on Roxas doesn't look very good. Maybe if it was just the purple? And a bit smaller. It'd look better. But it's really good. Way better than what I could do. (:

This is a redo of a title background that I did earlier. I posted it here cuz I'm trying to keep all my work in one thread.

 

EDIT:

These are from my new Title series; I (with some help) figured out how to make the characters show up, even when they're as dark as the background.

Yes, I just took the Terra background from before and blurred it better; I tried to redo that part, and found I preferred that one. Crit, please?

I also redid Aqua. I really like this style of painting. Maybe I should stick with that for the most part. Also.... do any of you find the text hard to read? I know one of you does, but I wasn't sure about anyone else.

You've improved quite a lot. The cropping is almost perfect, the stock is good ut I think the outer glow on the Vanitas one just ruined the blending, it looks quite strange, the background is good, but I think that the colors don't go that well with the stock, the red is good, but the white and blue, Idk. On the Terra one, I liked the stock as well, the background colorson this one are good, but, again, the outerglow ruined it on the text I'd make it with only one color or a gradient, the ligh red calls too much attention and confuses the focus of the BG. On the Aqua one, i think that just a lower opacity on the text would work just fine. Good work. ^^

^^ Thanks for the advice, Gizelita. And thank you all. ^^ (As for Vanitas's colors, I'm pretty sure there's some blue on him somwhere, and I needed a lighter color to use to outline him with so he wasn't swallowed up by 'darkness', lol.)

I have a problem with the font though. I know it's the KH font, but it really feels overused. Experiments with other fonts that fit the character instead of the series. The color choices are good but try getting other brushes instead of using the smudge tool.

The glow around them seems a bit too much, so perhaps thin it out or blend it into the stock.

The stocks are awesome though and what the text reads is pretty good too.

I like your border but try doing different things though instead of keeping each one in the same style. If you mean them to be similar, still try to add variety so they don't look almost exactly the same. Little differences here and there would be nice.
