I beat him in the race once...on easy lol I was so excited! And I never fought him so I could actually say the score is 1 to 0! I never won fighting against him...I like the name Highwind though.

I could never beat the Riku fight, Leon was horribly easy, as was the Tidus, Wakka and Selphie team-up, but the Riku fight just got me, and killed me repeatedly The race was fun though, I managed to beat him the very first time I fought him, and I felt happy for that

for those of you who have trouble sparring with riku, you do realize he has a pattern to at least one of his attacks, right? after reflecting a bunch of wakka's blitzballs, i just go and hack away at riku for a while in sparring to level up, and the races became really easy after a while.

i can beat riku easy even teh second time in hollow bastiona adn final time didnt die once both of them and it was only less than five minutes i can also beat cloud easy im kinda not looking forward to fighting sephiroth tho but after hering about him i soo wanna kick his butt soo much grrrs how dare he be more awesome than me adn who finds it funny that you can beat cloud easy beating sephiroth is mad difficult but somehow when cloud an sephiroth fight there equally matched

You can beat Leon. It's just very hard because you're on a weak level, and if you're a new comer you most likely don't have enough expirence using the Keyblade.

I HATED the race. I won the first time I tried... but never after that. Go figure.

 

But I always enjoyed the fights. They're a nice way to get ready for the game. I just kept levelin' up and owned the Darkside!

Yeah, by fighting Tidus, Selphie, and Wakka. I'd suggest Wakka the most. If you keep a safe distance and get the timing right, you can deflect the blitzballs back at him and get experience for that.

Ugh, the race was a pain at first, I've been able to do it more often now, but sometimes I epically fail. Same thing with Leon, except once I started winning against him, I never seem to loose, but there's always the chance that I will, I'm not a pro after all.

And you were getting at other people for not knowing some stuff, that's pretty dumb if you ask me.

 

And in response to you saying that it's pointless to use them to level up, it actually can be useful, if you choose the shield at the beginning, you can level up to level 9 and get guard, which is a VERY helpful ability that early in the game.

Ya the race was hard but what about the battle with Riku when hes been taken over by Ansem and he wants Kairis heart so Sora fights him so he will get Riku back. Oh GOD that took me a long time to beat it. Im not kidding because it was so hard that i almost hit the T.v because it was so frustrating.

when i first played it when i was 4, i sucked at it but now that i got KH1 again (old one was too scracthed up) i beat him like it was nothing in the race. But the first few tries i lost but i kept restarting it. But in the fight i learned his moves and was able to beat him. hit 4 times wait untill after he jumps at you and so on. But in traverse town with the optional Leon fight i was like "aw heck no" and i just let him beat me cause there was no way i would win agenst him

Yeah, levelling up gets you abilities before Goofy even teaches you about abilities

BTW, you can get infinite exp by fighting Selphie, and attacking when she uses her jump attack. She'll get knocked back for 1 , then her jump rope will land on her head for another exp, but it's impossible to beat her this way, so you can do it forever.
