More than anything, I think the issue I have with the season is that it doesn't feel like it needed to be its own thing. Like, it should've been essentially a prologue to what's about to happen next, and the fact they decided to turn that content into 3 movies instead just feels wrong at this point

I see. I'm seeing complaints on the Crunchyroll discord that there's too much manga content left in the Infinity Castle arc for it to be 'properly' adapted into 3 movies which is where the complaining about things being 'skipped' or 'rushed' are coming from

It's possible. There's a popular theory that the next arc is what's being made into 3 movies, and the final arc that follows it will be an additional movie (or 2 💀)

shorter seasons aren't necessarily a bad thing but i do agree some shows would do better with longer ones

CW shows prove without a doubt that longer seasons can just end up being a lot of padding

i was part of the conversation and i didn't say filler was bad. I'm not saying it is in this case either, but 20 episode seasons for 10 years is too much. 10-15 per season is the sweet spot imo

but honestly, longer seasons do work really well in some cases if the writers do a good job weaving in the main plot every single episode

like, filler but the kind that still ties back into helping the main plot

rather than something like spn where it was 5 weeks of monster of the day with no ties to the plot and then one episode starting back up on the last "relevant" episode

early arrow and flash did this pretty well
