inari_sune 0 Posted July 22, 2022 Persona, a great series. But god it's awfully overrated.Atlus, makes a new game Fans: "WHERE IS PERSONA 6? WHERE ARE MY PORTS? IS THERE JOKER IN IT?"
venommob12 2 Posted July 22, 2022 Sadly yeah,😔 The first SMT I was exposed to was the one with Raidou, and the 3rd one where DMC 2 Dante was a guest character/partymember
ali3n.0bserv3r 6 Posted July 22, 2022 I got jump scared.
Sam N 10 Posted July 22, 2022 I wouldn’t call Persona a spin off. Maybe it was at one point in time, but now? Not only has it dropped the branding, it’s also catering to an entirely different demographic.
inari_sune 0 Posted July 22, 2022 Yeah, just saying it started as a spin off and now it's different now
Sam N 10 Posted July 22, 2022 I tried a bit of SMT5. And I dunno. I see the appeal, but it really didn’t hook me the same way Persona did.
venommob12 2 Posted July 22, 2022 Because it's darker and less anime-ish
ali3n.0bserv3r 6 Posted July 22, 2022 I’m about to fight a boss I think.
Sam N 10 Posted July 22, 2022 Nah not that. It’s more the absence of the daily life system. That’s like the entire reason I enjoy Persona. It’s very ambitious for a JRPG. And that’s not the only ambitious thing about it.
venommob12 2 Posted July 22, 2022 But that's about it really, some SMT games like Digital Devil Saga have the daily life system
Sam N 10 Posted July 22, 2022 But not to the degree that Persona has it. Literally everything you do from day to day matters in Persona.
venommob12 2 Posted July 22, 2022 Well atleast from 3-5 perhaps but not 1-2, but overall I just noticed it got more anime-ish by when 3 rolled out
Snakeskin94 13 Posted July 22, 2022 Cause you're a sheep jk jk lol
Sam N 10 Posted July 22, 2022 Plus there’s the intriguing narrative commentary about society and the human mind…
venommob12 2 Posted July 22, 2022 But overall I think appeal is understandable, I mean I didn't care much about Fromsoft Soulslikes in general, but definitely got hooked on Bloodborne and afterwards. So for SMT/Persona case it's going have something that seems to be a bit more appealing to one crowd then the main one
Sam N 10 Posted July 22, 2022 I guess it just takes a lot to impress me. Or I’m easily bored. Either way.
venommob12 2 Posted July 22, 2022 Well the SMT narrative isn't neccessarily one of its strong points, but it's dark tone and setting is what sets it apart from other jrpgs at the time. P3 just started the trend of giving it more life to that earlier concept, in sense it's a good move
Sam N 10 Posted July 22, 2022 Yeah I do appreciate that and also the general difficulty of it. SMT did not hold back even on normal.Course, that also makes it a game that isn’t very respectful of your time. I see it the same way I see Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: I can be in the mood for it but I have to REALLY be in the mood for it.
venommob12 2 Posted July 22, 2022 Yeah I love how the current Persona currently handles things, just it's sad that if you bring up something like SMT some people will have no clue what they are and how they are connected to Persona at one point
