Western VA and Japanese VA don't work the same. VA in Japan is much bigger, which also means more beloved, which also means more cause for people to be assholes

I'm not saying the western fans kicked up a fuss about this, in fact it didn't even register for most people

But SENA heard it and panicked, apparently Nomura was also trying to get all the VAs, jp and English to sound younger and they were all having trouble with it

I can believe that, Nomura listens into recording sessions often enough

I'm not sure if I can believe this is the reason for wholesale firing just yet, but it does make sense with the given reason of "we wanted a fresh sound"

Regardless none of the directors or producers wanted the VAs to be fired I know that much

I recently found out that western VA's are forced to do cold readings. They get absolutely no prep time to go over their lines or anything. This goes for anime and Japanese games, I think it's different with western stuff. But that's such a bad thing to do because the quality you can get out of a VA isn't the same through a cold reading than through proper prep time to do it.
