I will say, there is something extra cathartic about beating someone who was so deluded they thought they were right.

You can empathize with Xehanort and Eraqus but still oppose their ideologies. Understand why they do what they do, but not agree with it. Dark Road helped us understand how they became the people they are, but it doesn’t justify their actions.

Eraqus was too naive, and narrow, which lead to feelings of moral superiority, Xehanort's was too cynical, and in his isolation, he was not able to understand people; the common people. And that of course, led to intellectual elitism, which, lead to his defeat.
