this : IF vanitas is darkness, I think he's one of the enemies MoM fought in his first keyblade war and that vanitas is thus referring to him as an "old old friend" when speaking to maleficent in the last khux update, and it would give him a reason to make sure ventus reach the future (and serves as a vessel for vanitas) so that he may fight MoM again
