If you don't mind tellijg your secrets(or if they even ARE secrets. I really have to learn stuff...) I use a tortillion and a kneaded eraser and praticed a LOT. Before I had a tortillion to use I just used my pencil and shaded it darker on the top and slowly got lighter as I moved down. With the tortillion I darken in the top with my pencil and leave the botton white and just use the tortillion to blend it. I use the kneaded eraser if I make it too dark to lighten it.
