Sora represents Kingdom Hearts in collectible Disney print exclusive to D23 Gold Members at D23 Expo 2019

Recommended Posts

D23 have announced the D23 Expo offerings that come with the D23 Gold Membership. These include exclusive single-day ticket discounts, a Gold Member lounge, and more when a Gold Member attends the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California on August 23-25 this year.

Amongst the offerings is an exclusive collectible print from Disney artist Eric Tan celebrating the 10th anniversary of the official Disney fan club. The print features Mickey Mouse and various memorable characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, The Muppets, and the Disney parks. Fans will be delighted to know that Kingdom Hearts is also being representing Disney in this print! The silhouette of Sora holding his Keyblade can be found between those of Figment the Dragon and Thor. Check it out below!

Thanks to @Knuxpyro56 for the tip!

For those of you who are Gold Members and attending D23 Expo next month, all you have to do to grab this wonderful keepsake is go to the D23 Gold Member Gift Pick-Up in North Hall, and show your Gold Member card.

Here is the full announcement video:

Is this the first time disney has publicly acknowledged the existence of kh?

I mean, Kingdom Hearts has been a part of quite a few D23 events by this point, but only in a videogame section (like a panel or demo). To the best of my recollection, this is the first time Sora (or any KH character) has been a part of a general Disney lineup (with Star Wars, Marvel, Princesses and whatnot). I think this is probably because of the "shared rights" of Sora.

I wouldn't view this as a sign for things to come though. Sora is probably only on here because KH3 released THIS year and, unless I'm mistaken, is one of the highest selling games of the year so far.

ALTHOUGH, that doesn't mean we won't possibly get another trailer for the Re:Mind DLC. Maybe with some actual English voice acting?

Disney outright owns all the original content, they just leave Square do the heavy lifting for the most part (as it should…Disney execs meddling tends to be a hindrance rather than a boon, eg. with Arendelle).

True. Disney straight up just owns all the original KH stuff. I was always under the impression though that they ask for Nomura/Square's blessing on stuff.

Similar to how a boy might ask a girl's parents for their blessing to propose to her. He's not getting "permission", because she is independent and can make her own decisions, but it's still nice for everyone to be on the same page.

Similarly, Disney does not legally need to get Nomura's PERMISSION for anything, but out of respect they run things by him. At least that's what I always thought.
