A Few Things I Like to Say About the ReMind Trailer (possible spoilers)

Recommended Posts

I noticed a few things that I like to point out. And the title is self explanatory.

  1. In the footage showing Aqua and Roxas being playable, Sora doesn't seem to be in the party. Just look at the bottom right.
  2. Isn't Lea supposed to be incapacitated?
  3. What are the odds that playing as Roxas would make the fight against Saix a bit harder?
  4. The part with Luxord makes it seem like that cutscene where Xigbar observes Maleficent and Pete will no longer cut to black mid sentence.
  5. Since Xigbar is actually Luxu, how is that he doesn't recognize Luxord?

1 I assume this is taking place just before Sora rushes in to help.

2 Same as 1.

3 I think it's just an additional fight against Siax, like with 1 and 2. Roxas has a similar fighting style to Sora, but more aggressive and quick.

4 That's interesting, hadn't thought about it being placed in as an extension.

5 The fact that he doesn't recognize him is the entire reason for the intrigue. This man from ancient times, who's possessed body after body over centuries, realizes that Luxord is more than who he seems and has no idea who he could be.

Might I point out that Roxas didn't show up until midway through the boss fight against Saix?

not only that, Xion was a boss herself, not a party member

The theory is that ReMind is a different timeline due to Sora resetting using the power of waking again to save Kairi, that's why the ReMind logo has a Coda in it and thats why the events are different

I'm sure Nomura specifically stated the ReMind is a story expansion. He never said anything about it being a different timeline.

They would be the same thing if the theory is true, Sora uses the power of waking to reset back to the beginning of the KBG to stop Xehanort from killing Kairi, that's why the fights are different and don't have Sora

The music Coda symbol in ReMind logo means to play a different segment of a song instead of the normal ending, so the theory is that after beating Xehanort, Sora goes back to the Keyblade Graveyards start  with power of waking to stop Kairi being abducted & slain This abuse of the power of waking makes Sora vanish in the ending. Nomura said that the fighting with Riku Aqua & Roxas was part of the additional scenario which would only make sense if we played through the events of the KBG for some reason

I thought the implication was that you could select which character you fight as at those parts. The information we received so far was vague, so I could be wrong, but I imagined it would be like we get a menu or an area where we can choose to repeat those Keyblade Graveyard fights with the characters of our choosing. (Maybe portals would show up where the bosses used to be, idk.) In other words, it would be separate from the story.

  1. Hmm, that is interesting, now that I'm thinking about it!
  2. Also true!
  3. Probably a bit, since we don't want Saix being a pushover.
  4. It does seem to be the case!
  5. It's probable that Luxu hadn't met Luxord at the time of the Keyblade War. Maybe he came around after the new Foretellers had assembled.

1. With Aqua I could have easily imagined it being placed before Sora shows up. But with the RAX one I'm not so sure. I like the idea of the fights we see in the trailer being part of the additional scenario if the rewinding time again thing actually happens, even if that means we have to play through the graveyard twice.
3. Hard to say, if we use the usual KH logic, Roxas should have lost a lot of his power in the same way Sora often does. But it really didn't seem that way in vanilla KH3, so I'd imagine he'd have just as easy of a time taking him down as Sora did.
4. Agreed, instead I feel like Luxord would interrupt Xigbar mid-sentence now.
5. Personally I never took it to be so literal. I though Xigbar was more emphasizing how Luxord doesn't know who he his himself and implying that Luxord might be more important than he seems. But from what I've seen so far I'm alone in that reading.

I want to assume that this will be in a timeline where Sora did not interfere or if the heroes defeated the villains by themselves (I.e. Ventus vs Vanitas) because it is more realistic.

Nomura's interview for the KH3 Ultimania could clear this up. He did say in it that he went back and forth with the decision of making other characters playable for the fights in the graveyard over Sora, but felt things would get too confusing for the gamer and thus went with having Sora as the player's character for all the fights. I think Re:Mind really is going to give us the reverse scenario somehow.
