I've officially lost hope in shooter games

I got these poll statistics on Yahoo.com. I need to share my disgust with the rest of you.

 

Question

What is the best shooter franchise?

66% Call of Duty

4% Medal of Honor

21% Halo

2% Killzone

7% Other

 

If nuclear grenade launchers, martyrdom and teleporting knife kills classify as a good gaming experience these days then we can expect the entire Shooter genre to go into the toilet.

I personally prefer battlefield. About 50% of the things you have in the multiplayer mode of every shooter comes from Battlefield 1942

 

Halo is great as well. Halo 3 was the only thing I played a year ago. I made a lot of friends on Xbox Live because of Halo 3

I hate COD i find them overhype and just annoying now.Also all my friends on my Friends list were playing a COD game.I like Restiance series alot and KillZone's were fun.Halo good but my favorite FPS in you consired it FPS would be BioShock

BFBC2 is a great step for the Battlefield Franchise. The campaign still needs a little work but the multiplayer is great. I can't wait for the Remake of Battlefield Vietnam to come out.

Resistance and Killzone are great. They definitely deserve a lot more attention then they get.

cod only wins because of modern warfare 2.

before that, barely anyone at my school knew what call of duty was, then that came out and now you can't go 30 mins withour hearing black ops

 

and even while it isn't the same as cod and halo... don't under-estimate the valve shooters. HL2, TF2, and L4D (even though it's not my personal choice) are legendary

I can remeber when MOH was cream of the crop and COD was a blip.

 

Personally I like TF2 although Valves old PS3 prejudice killed the servers. In contrast theres still about 200 people playing R:FOM online and I think 400 or more still play R2. R2 defo has my fav online

But I find it really stupid that everyone got so obsessed with CoD. And then Black Ops came out and I'm like "FUU- Screw it all."

I played CoD and Halo 3(?) once. Halo confused me . I have to say CoD was pretty cool but nothing to get so worked up about imo. I don't see the big deal in shooting games. ._.

Oh yeah, Medal of Honor used to be amazing. Back then the only major shooter franchises were Battlefield, MOH and Halo. Halo wasn't even popular until Halo 2 came out.

The reason shooters are so popular is because people can kill other people without actually killing them. Yes that is a theme in a lot of games but shooter games bring you a bit closer to the action.

I'm kind of in the middle with all the shooter talk. I've played the Call of Duty series, the Halo series, and the Battlefield series, and really, they're all the same, imo.

 

Really, it all comes down to if you like tactics better than straight game play. If you do, go CoD (preferably Black Ops, Modern Warfare 2 is shit. ).

 

Halo is great for game play, and fun when you're with friends, and Battlefield is in between, once again, imo.

That's just what I have to say.

 

Call of Duty is more for casual players. It is honestly designed to make it easy for people to do well. That's fine with me. The problem is that it is very hard to do this without screwing everything up.

 

Halo is more fast paced and you need to be on your toes (or fingertips in this case). It's a lot more fun with friends though so if no one is online then you may be in for a boring night.

 

Battlefield is a strategic game. It is all about teamwork. You are an individual soldier however no matter how good you are you cannot win the game for your team. Soldiers have to follow orders. Squad Leaders have to make sure the squad operates as a single unit rather than four individuals and the commander (a feature in Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142) has to treat the game like a strategy game where the soldiers are actual people instead of . The problem with battlefield games is that if you get stuck on a team where people only care for themselves you will lose the match guaranteed.

 

MoH is more like Call of Duty and Battlefield having a baby. I didn't play a lot of it but it's pretty good.

Meh. Am i the only one that likes CoD for its campaign, and not its MP? Although i admit, i loved the campaign on MW2, the MP on it was so freaking terrible. The only way to have fun on it is to use the OP perks and crap.

 

Also, no game, save for halo 2, can beat the shenanigans that happened on gears of war 1 near its launch.

I enjoy CoD for the campaign as well. The story is very well done and they do a great job of making you feel like you are a part of the action since there are no cutscenes but cutscene effects are showed through the first person without interrupting the flow of the game.

 

But MP is shitty like you said.
