He alienates Terra from Eraqus, as well as manipulating Terra's insecurities about not being seen as highly as he thinks he deserves to distance him from Ventus and Aqua. Palpatine used Anakin's frustrations and fears (his secret relationship with Padme) to slowly convert him to the dark side of the force way of thinking, promising him power and recognition beyond what he already had. Like Anakin, Terra found himself trapped in a body that he could no longer call his own, a suit of immense power and full of rage.
