dark road spoilers:

before the dark road story was complete, people saw the ending of khux and thought the player reincarnated as xehanort. what we came to realize was that those scenes only featured xehanort as a way to throw us off the trail: the player had actually reincarnated as someone else and was in those same scenes as the blue-robed figure. we'll find out who the player actually was before that robe in missing link, supposedly

best we can tell, khux is like, more than 100 years before current kh, and dark road is about 80-something years before (however old xehanort is idk). player chose not to be a dream eater and opted for reincarnation instead, so they're basically doing the same thing luxu is (but probably slightly different methods). so we know missing link take place after khux and before dark road, but we can't tell if it happens right* before dark road or *right after khux or if there's other time in between
