So the way it worked was, Ven's heart in Sora'a reacted to seeing Young Xehanort, and manifested Vanitas. I believe Nomura confirmed Sora did not see Vanitas, only Ven through Sora's eyes did.

Which is weird cause Ven never met Young Xehanort
