Kakarot2020 0 Posted May 18 Hot take, the gameplay of kingdom hearts 358 days/2 is actually pretty goodik the controls might be clunky but lets be honest its all because it was on the ds which any game that used the dpad for 3d movement was going to be clunky anywaysmario 64 ds literally is another exampleso its not fair to say 358 days/2's controls are garbage and janky because that's just the console itselfwhich begs the question why the hell didn't they just make the game on the psp?also it would've been warented for kingdom hearts fans to get the console considering there would've been 2 kingdom hearts games on the handheldhell recoded should've been on the psp as well
Snakeskin94 13 Posted May 18 Hot take that isn't a hot take it's just piggy backing off of what you said, I think Days is one of the best entries in the franchise.I would argue it's narrative can stand toe to toe with 1 and 2, and to a lesser extent (just cause they're both handhelds) BBS. Kakarot2020 0 Posted May 18 i am saying in also a gameplay standpoint
Snakeskin94 13 Posted May 18 Yeah I agree I think the gameplay is goodI don't think it's fair to editorialize it with "it's good for the DS" nah I think the combat and it's leveling up customizations were cool afAnd they got expanded on in Coded for fun effect- I wish we had something similar in new games tbh
Kakarot2020 0 Posted May 18 358/2 days battle system is the clostest to the main games battle system on an handheldit literally is the regular kh battle system except there is no mp and magic are like limited use itemsalso i like the music of the game: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/493890345751412737/1241255253232320562/Totally_the_world_that_never_was_theme_from_358_over_2_days.mp3?ex=66498889&is=66483709&hm=b36cc87105dde356197c76652a0585eb2f4c49143b36b8072d18ed10c3332c48&
pablo5425 7 Posted May 18 no one knows especially bc simba already knew them with their base form and transforming like that would kinda break THE ORDER
King Arthur13 51 Posted May 19 Tbh the order is the worst rule kh writers ever createdIt's an in universe equivalent of saying "disney won't let us use the characters outside their respective stories"The fact "the order" is brought up ALOT in kh3 means the team probably had disney breathing down their necks more than ever

Kakarot2020 0 Posted May 19 knowing that kingdom hearts dream drop distance was meant to be a kingdom hearts 1 remake, it makes me wonder if kingdom hearts could've been ported to 3dsi believe it could've been possible considering graphically the og 3ds was about the strength of a ps2
sora_cloud_claudekenny_2b_spyro 0 Posted May 19 Oh, I didn’t even know that. Dream Drop Distance was originally going to be a remake of KH1? I had no idea at all. That’s fascinating.
Kakarot2020 0 Posted May 19 i believe so just the fact sora and riku are put in their kh1 attire in ddd says a lotactually nvm it was a misconception@sora_cloud_claudekenny_2b_spyroyeah people had theory of it but its wasn't actually confirmed though but, it would've been nice to have kingdom hearts 1 on 3dsthink about it there isn't really a good official way to play kh1 on a portable systemand could you imagine if kh1 did have a remake on the 3ds with 3d feature
sora_cloud_claudekenny_2b_spyro 0 Posted May 19 @Kakarot2020 Oh okay. So it was a theory then, but never confirmed. That’s all right. It would have been cool to see KH1 on 3DS, definitely! Heck, I still feel a little baffled as to why the Kingdom Hearts games could only get cloud versions on Switch, whereas NieR Automata got a native port on Switch. I suppose there are always Windows handhelds that could run the PC versions of the Kingdom Hearts games, but I don’t have a Windows handheld, so I don’t know how well they’d run. Plus, whether those are defined as handheld game consoles is probably a debate in of itself. Oh well. Here’s hoping that maybe the successor to the Nintendo Switch might get native ports. Kakarot2020 0 Posted May 19 the cloud versions are a slap in the face for kingdom hearts fans
Kakarot2020 0 Posted May 19 for a 20th anniversarythe fact they revealed this in the smash reveal for sora and then revealed it being cloud versions
sora_cloud_claudekenny_2b_spyro 0 Posted May 19 Yeah, I can understand that feeling. I tried the cloud versions myself, and they were a little finicky at times too. It was a confusing marketing decision in my opinion.
Kakarot2020 0 Posted May 19 square enix literally lost money by doing thati can't imagine they even got a profit from thattbf square enix itself is falling off
sora_cloud_claudekenny_2b_spyro 0 Posted May 19 Well, I don’t know how well the cloud versions sold either. I know that they didn’t stay very high on the eShop charts for long, based on what I saw. So I think it’s possible they probably didn’t sell all that well. We never really got sales numbers for the cloud versions themselves, so it’s tough to know for sure. I still hope that maybe native ports might be a possibility for the Switch’s successor. I know that Square Enix recently announced changes in their strategies, so I’m hoping that by making more of their games available on more platforms in the future, and by slowing down releases to focus a little more on higher quality, that hopefully they’ll be able to do better financially in the future. I personally really enjoyed almost everything they released over the past few years, but I’m also aware that not everyone shares that same sentiment. I’m pretty easy to please, personally, and I’m not super critical by nature, so maybe I’m just easygoing sometimes. 😅 But even though I really enjoyed most of the games they’ve released in recent years, it’s true that a lot of their games haven’t met their sales expectations. Which can be a whole other topic in of itself. Sometimes their sales expectations can be a bit too high in my opinion. Like, Final Fantasy XVI sold 3 million units shortly after launch, and while they saw that as successful, they did hope for the game to sell more over time. We don’t have any updated sales numbers for FF16 since then, so it’s hard to know if the units sold are somewhere around 3.5 million or some other amount. But yeah, sometimes their sales expectations can be a bit too high in my opinion. At the same time, a lot of those games cost a lot to make, so I’m hopeful that they’ll be able to increase their financial success over time. And hopefully please more players too. I’m pretty happy with most of their recent games, but I also know that not everyone is. So hopefully they can keep improving in both aspects.
