I really don't know how Nomura has such a hard time writing female characters. How did we get KH3 Kairi/Aqua but then also Larxene in the same firetrucking game? Not letting Kairi get kidnapped and playable Kairi during the part where we have to bring people back would have her already made so much better

She spends ten entire years in Dark World fighting off Shadows on a constant basis, not knowing that everything she did to save Terra was basically futile, gets smacked around by ASoD with ease, is quickly corrupted, freedfrom said corruption only to get her shit pushed in by Vanitas with no issues at all.

They treated her like complete trash in KH3.

If I were to describe it with wrestling terminology, Aqua got turned into a jobber in KH3 to put over the Heels.

But it's ok cause we got Aqua v Vanitas 4 and 5 😔

She starts the game in her tragic fate as established by bbs and in keeping with the format of pretty much every bbs and days character being firetrucked over going into kh3

Ansem SoD beats her while she's keybladeless to further intensify the urgency of the situation with her

And she literally beats up Vanitas before he turns to underhanded tactica and forces her to put herself in the way of his attack

Like the whole RoD thing is just the extension of the tragic fate theming that is essentially the point for most characters going into kh3

Its not her being useless or weak it's literally the consequences of her sacrificing herself multiple times for Terra and the realm of light

And her loss against Vanitas is completely in keeping with her established willingness to put herself into the line of fire to keep her friends out of it (literally the exact same situation as Aqua v Terranort bbs)

All of thats to say everything she goes through in kh3 is in service of showing her strength through exploring the consequences of throwing herself away to protect what she cared for

She seemed to have been suffering PTSD as per the Remind DLC and that's why she wasn't very effective in battle or important for the plot really. It's an interesting topic if they chose to explore it further and it would have greatly helped Aqua's character development.

side games are what every non numbered kh game are so far
