Two things:

1. Being a Master is a privilege*, not a right. It's a title you *earn through completion of the Mark of Mastery Exam, and must be bestowed upon you by another Master. While Sora may demonstrate exemplary skill, courage, and connection to Light, he objectively failed his Mark of Mastery Exam, and that's why Yen Sid didn't give him the title.

2. It's not so much that Nomura is "allergic" to that stuff. I think he's just far more concerned with telling the story of Kingdom Hearts than he is pairing characters up and making a show of it.

You could also consider him a Master because Xehanort called him one, but he didn't officially earn it through the Mark of Mastery, so it's really dubious.

The bequeathing scene confuses me sometimes, you can bequeath the keyblade to someone and not be a master
