Marluxia#4918 9 Posted September 7, 2019 @Mupstun Watched IT 2. It's more of a comedy than horror really. If you liked the characters then watch it because the interactions are good. But the horror elements I found pretty bad and made the overall atmosphere very confusing because I wasnt sure if they wanted me to be laughing or be scared. I can tell which one I wasnt though.Shouldn't have been 3 hours though
Inçendyne 31 Posted September 7, 2019 Well, clowns should make people laugh, so that is less of a surprise.
Marluxia#4918 9 Posted September 7, 2019 Yeah but the whole concept of the clown was to lure children in and be creepyThis one is just hilarious and I'm not sure if it is intentional.Course I assume it is because the movements it makes just kind of looks like it is aimed at making us laugh since it never does it when it is being looked at. Course the clown wasnt the vinyl reason some of the horror elements were funny. It was how the scenes were generally set up.It took issues I had with the first chapter and cranked it up to eleven. The tone and atmosphere doesnt match up with how it is being advertised. And it wasnt clever or satisfying misdirection like with Hereditary. Hereditary's trailers really add to one scene in particular because of how the trailers are edited. Now I'm not sure if this was intentional either but given how many little details exist in the film I can imagine it was.

Liftea 12 Posted September 7, 2019 Does It 2 have the "problem" with reusing certain scenes as well?In chapter 1 they often reused the scene where pennywise just chases the kids to scare themI found that pretty boring
Pachirisu_1551552076 5 Posted September 7, 2019 Honestly i feel like the horror genre needs to be re:minded (im sorry) about what made it a good genre

Marluxia#4918 9 Posted September 7, 2019 Theres a lot of flashbacks which can be blamed in part on the book being a retelling of events by their older selves for the first half and part because they are really trying to push the whole face their childhood fears/trauma theme
Pachirisu_1551552076 5 Posted September 7, 2019 I applaud hollywood for their newfound hobby of recycling

GoldenDrummer730#4323 24 Posted September 7, 2019 > Horror well i think in general that will adapt to whatever the general populous finds to be "fear" inducingso psychological horror is kinda hip right now
Pachirisu_1551552076 5 Posted September 7, 2019 Unfortunately, "Psychological horror" is pretty much jumpscare simulators.
GoldenDrummer730#4323 24 Posted September 7, 2019 well, actually i meant Psychological horror as movies like "Get Out"I'd think that Jumpscare simulators would go under thriller horror but tbf i dont see a lot of the genre hahatis more my own speculation
