Aqua_Wren 11 Posted April 8, 2020 Ok, but the choice fails to account for scenarios where believing is actively harmful because of the afterlife being run by someone who wouldn't approve of that.

Otti#8624 26 Posted April 8, 2020 > As for someone who doesn't believe in God, doing good deeds all their life and still going to hell for their troubles, well I'm not a scholar at all but I feel like I should say, if you are aware that there's a school of thought that accepts the after life as real, and aware that there's one that doesn't, it doesn't cost you anything to believe in it. At worst, if it's not true, you'll die and that's it, at best, you would have made it to there That makes it even worse. I mean sure, it doesn't take much to believe but then it still falls into the ground of it not being free will. If God really created humans and is picking and choosing who goes where after they die, then it should be based on what they have done rather than what they have worshipped. Or else it sounds like God is just seeking attention and punishing people who didn't accept him even if they are the greatest person to ever live. Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 8, 2020 The Christian model is usually that God created all things perfect and then original sin firetrucked everything
2 quid is good 2,209 Posted April 8, 2020 Well I can't speak for other religions, I can barely speak for IslamBut I do know that there is a belief in Islam that says even if a good deed is done by someone who either out of ignorance or something else isn't a believer in him, they will get their rewardAnd if that reward means heaven then it might be

Otti#8624 26 Posted April 8, 2020 But then here's an issue too. If someone who's the worst person ever to live but still believes in the religion. Would they end up in heaven or hell? I mean, based on the rules of a religion you aren't supposed to do bad things but you still believe in that god. Would he really punish that one person then? Why punish the person who did a good but not believed in you than the person who did believe in you but did bad things.
