King Arthur13 51 Posted June 29, 2019 Okay what I didn't like about KH3 most of all was the lack of initiative and motive for Sora to explore worldsWithout a motive to go to the Disney worlds, it basically means they matter even less.
2 quid is good 2,209 Posted June 29, 2019 KH2 in my opinion felt like a world that had inhabitants, and felt "lived-in", felt like it had a sense of place. Mostly because it had a lot of one note characters (like Seifer, Hayner, Leon, etc) that interacted in an impactful way with Sora, and we didn't need a flashback sequence to have to get that. King Arthur13 51 Posted June 29, 2019 And I mean a real motive not, "unlock power of waking"
2 quid is good 2,209 Posted June 29, 2019 Like, you can show Elsa in that flashback, but nothing in the game leads me to believe it affected Sora
King Arthur13 51 Posted June 29, 2019 Like if the motive was to A. Protect the princesses of heart, 2. Keep balance in world Xehanorts presence can be felt, and 3. Regain power of waking through rebuilding strengthAlso also, there is no reason the organization keeps Sora alive.
2 quid is good 2,209 Posted June 29, 2019 Basically, it boils down to how you personally feel about it all. I felt KH3 was very restrained because not only did Sora not interact much at all outside of what was required (Olympus is probably the exception here) but also because there was little in the way of making the world of KH3 feel bigger
Novayon 192 Posted June 29, 2019 Well Quid without original worlds to have thees characters in, they can't really do it. And Aqua and Ventus come back too late, Sora doesn't interact with Lea and Kairi until the end and barely with Riku and Mickey.
2 quid is good 2,209 Posted June 29, 2019 Yes, it's a shame tbh
Otti#8624 26 Posted June 29, 2019 It would be better if you said lack of character interactions, saying lack of feeling tells you absolutely nothing other than confusing you although this is kh we are talking about....But yes, I agree on more character interactionsAnd nah, Lea and Ven only interacted that one time in Radiant Garden
Estoria#4001 19 Posted June 29, 2019 Nice, another interesting discussion missed
2 quid is good 2,209 Posted June 29, 2019 Yes, I suppose its not just lack of character interaction thoughJust a general lack of world buildingNow you know how I feel
Novayon 192 Posted June 29, 2019 I kinda get what you mean
King Arthur13 51 Posted June 29, 2019 Also it's weird that keyhole are so unimportant in the 3rd installment, considering they've been a main thing for a lot of the titles.
Novayon 192 Posted June 29, 2019 KH1 was lonely but it was mysterious and had a lot of little things to give a grander scale, KH2 had a lot of NPCs to talk to and the midgame hollow bastion helped, I guess KH3 doesn't have so much
King Arthur13 51 Posted June 29, 2019 The "seven new hearts" subplot to me went nowhere.
2 quid is good 2,209 Posted June 29, 2019 I got unreasonably excited in monsters Inc when sora used the keyblade
King Arthur13 51 Posted June 29, 2019 As a key yeah
Estoria#4001 19 Posted June 29, 2019 Or maybe I haven't missed it I agree with Quid in relation to the worldbuilding (or lack thereof), seeing as we got less original worlds and the ones we got were smaller than usual, and we all know that the real world building happens in the OG worlds and not in the Disney ones
King Arthur13 51 Posted June 29, 2019 The game to me messed up in its execution rather than the story elements themselves.
Estoria#4001 19 Posted June 29, 2019 The only time a Disney world added to the lore was in KH1 when King Triton said he had seen the keyblade beforeThough now it is "a" keyblade, not "the" keyblade
2 quid is good 2,209 Posted June 29, 2019 Lowkey ? I think it's kinda sad KH2 is shitted on for its plot when arguably it does a lot to build up from KH1's foundations in terms of compounding on Sora's relationships
Marluxia#4918 9 Posted June 29, 2019 Actually what did happen to the whole keyhole gateways thing? I had a feeling the keyhole were going to be gone when we saw what happened to them in 2 but...it kind of established the keyhole as the way Sora unlocks the lanes between. Now he summons portals ? Estoria#4001 19 Posted June 29, 2019 Well, when it comes to stories, execution could be considered the key (heh) aspect
Otti#8624 26 Posted June 29, 2019 In KH3 it was more "my heart tells me to go here, so let's do it"And then the way came out
Estoria#4001 19 Posted June 29, 2019 So if a story has loads of concepts and story threads and stuff, if it fumbles the delivery then it'll be underwhelming and make people wish for what could have been instead of what was
