Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 I said that, because it feels like it's essentially ignoring the flaws the series has presented so far, to an extent. It feels rather hyperfocused on the lastest entry, a lot being because,well.. it's the lastest entry, and all our attention is upon it.
Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Amate, I've been going through KH2 again latelyI wanted so hard to like KH3 that I was actively trying to convince myself that KH2 was the same thing with the same problemsAnd you know what? There is some truth to thatI found the first visit to Beast's Castle almost disposableBut there are things that I just couldn't deny to myselfWhen SDG first got to Hollow Bastion, I felt a surge of emotion and satisfaction much greater than I did during KH3 as a wholeThe scenes where Sora reunited with Kairi and Riku in TWTNW hit me harder than the entirety of the Keyblade Graveyard sequences
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Well, at that point.. doesn't that basically boil down to your attachment to KH2? And the fact that, perhaps, it lacked an element you greatly loved and enjoyed in it? Isn't this basically nostalgia playing it's hand, as your essentially reexperiencing that game?Nothing wrong with all this..
KH-Queen 13 Posted April 21, 2019 can't really say much because i get emotional every single damn game LMFAO
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Otherwise you wouldn't be here for this ride
Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Nostalgia? Not at allThe first time I played KH2 was last yearNo real nostalgia to speak off
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Yes.. and you can be nostalgic as you replay something
Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Yes, you canBut I really wasn'tTo be honest my memory is pretty badAs it stood I had forgotten about 90% of KH2 alreadyIt was almost like I was playing it for the first time againI don't believe nostalgia was really playing a factorI was just enjoying myself moreIf anything this just goes to show how great KH1's story was
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 I would think it does, when a game like Kh2 is something you've experienced once before... You can feel those feelings again and how much you enjoyed something despite having mostly forgotten it all, because the experiences of it likely is still there. Scientiically, memories don't necessarily just go.. "poof",the pathways just simply stop needing to be used. But that said, I don't think I go to Kh for deep analysis,obv.. Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Alright, I accept that
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Infact,Kh wouldn't be in my top five of narrativesAnd yet.. I don't know.
Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 21, 2019 I don't see how that goes anything I've said
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Maybe it's because it's my first video-game? Maybe because it had someone i knew attached to it? Could be anythingBut i can safely say it's my own nostalgia that keeps my attachment going. And that's not a deflection or anything. It's just.. simply there. Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 21, 2019 And I can definitely say that in my case it was not nostalgia at all
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 it's a feeling, it's a sensation, that we as a sapient species feels
Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 21, 2019 You can keep saying that it was and I'll keep saying that it wasn't
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 Though, why would it be bad if it was? There's nothing wrong with it, and it doens't invalidate anything here.
Estoria#4001 19 Posted April 21, 2019 It would technically be bad because nostalgia is kind of a plague in the sense that it can dwarf your view of somethingSo one could argue I'd be looking at KH2 with rose-tinted glassesYou have not done this and I commend you for it, Amate
Amaterasu_1549906707 19 Posted April 21, 2019 I wouldn't say so, honestly.. Like,listen... You know how most RPGs, your party members are controllable? this is mildly off-topic but it's a point i wanna bring up..
