I agree, but I do like the new CG one too. I am so stoked for this movie! Dumbo is one of my favourite Disney films of all time!

Hopefully this could be a spring board to give us Dumbo 2.  Hopefully, they have more focus on Dumbo and all of the animals.

I'm not so sure if I want Dumbo 2. The original story certainly didn't need one. I guess it'll depend on the plot of the new film since it seems to be pretty different from the original.

The scrapped Dumbo 2 was going to focus on a bunch of baby circus animals.  I think Dumbo was trying to get them back to their parents after they got separated from them while in the city.

Not quite, I am just passionate about Dumbo.  When it releases, I might make a review about it.  I'd like to see the roles these two kids play and what role Dumbo's mom takes along with the Stork.  I also never quite understood what happened to Dumbo's dad.  I watched some theorizer channel about Dumbo being the offspring of an Asian and an African elephant since his ears are bigger than most elephant babies.

Ok maybe not you but the person who bumped this thread hahaha. I don't really remember what happens in the 2d dumbo but I feel like in the live action one the kids and the dad will play a biggish role. The dad and other circus oddities are kinda like dumbo

Yeah, pretty much.  I don't think Dumbo's dad is even going to be in the film.  He wasn't in the animated one.  It was just the Stork delivering Dumbo and the other elephants commenting on his looks and mentioning his dad.  I think the Stork was also in Lambert the Sheepish Lion in which he was drunk and missed up a baby lion cub with a baby lamb.  I don't think Disney would actually include some of the controversial Dumbo material like the drunk Stork and the Pink Elephants.

Well we kinda saw the pink elephants in the trailer, even though it's a completely different situation. Maybe that's the live action scene? Pink elephants is such an iconic scene, I hope the music  makes it in the film in some sort of way.

They were creepy.   They could appear as cameos.   Though I don't think they will appear in the same as the animated one, where Dumbo gets drunk or high on something placed in the water he drank.

Disney is pretty much intolerant to drug references in their media.  I believe the crows also appeared in the artwork of the tent's ceiling.  They taught Dumbo how to use his giant ears how to fly.

I should do the same.   It would be fun to compare and differentiate between the two.   Also you can find the Lambert the Lion short on YouTube.   I should make a thread about him.

This adaption is clearly going in a bit of a different direction from the original animated, most notably in the fact that two children will be essentially taking over Timothy's role and I think it looks adorable. I'm also just over the moon that they're keeping 'Baby Mine'. 
I'm looking forward to seeing this.

This film doesn't need a sequel, even to reveal the story of the father and Disney has too many unnecessary sequels already.

If you had to choose between what Dumbo gets.  Would you prefer a sequel or a remake?  Dumbo could be set in modern times rather than just set in like the 1910s like it was in the cartoon and now the live action one.

As much as I love the natural setting, I do think it would be interesting to see how different the story would be in modern times. People would be capturing him on their camera phones and stuff, he would go viral online. That would be interesting. So I guess set it in modern times. If you're remaking something, might as well do something different with it.

I wonder if that would work if Dumbo had a descendant that also shares his name that people were doing that with.  I mean, the 101 Dalmatians is getting a television series which focuses on one of the original 101 Dalmatian's descendants who happens to have 101 Dalmatians of her own.  There was also the 101 Dalmatians that focused on the original but it was set in like the 90's/early 2000's in what was probably rural America or the English countryside.  I just wonder if a modern adaptation of Dumbo or a modern sequel with a Dumbo descendant would go over.  Which would be better received?  Maybe the one that is marketed more, perhaps.
