the15thwiseone 1 Posted November 11, 2010 Hi, guys I have problem that I don't get. It is Algebra I. Here it is: The area of a circle with a radius r is given by the formula A=pi[r]^2 Use this fact to find a formula for the shade are in the figure below. This is the best I could do to replicate the image. I know that my final answer should be A=pi[r](w)+pi(w)^2 but my teacher will kill me if I don't show my work. I am utterly lost on this. It is probably simple and I am just over complicating it, but any help would be appreciated. *the "r"'s are in brackets because they make these ® with parenthesis, just pretend the brackets are parenthesis.* If circle 1 is the one with the radius and w is the width of the "ring" and your going for the ring then... it will be: Area of big circle: A=pi(r^2) While the area of the small circle will be... A=pi(r-w)^2 Then the area of the ring is.. A1-A2=A(ring) So: Pi(®^2-(r^2-2wr+w^2)) the r^2's cancel out making the Area: 2rw-w^2. Case 1 above^^^ Case 2 below VVVVV If r is the small circle radius and w is the width of the additional radius then: A1=pir^2 a2=pi(r+w)^2 then it goes: A2-A1=A(ring) pi(r^2+2wr+w^2-r^2) pi(2wr+w^2) A(ring)=(2wr+w^2) I hope these help. SuperPunk 13 Posted November 12, 2010 Search for the French school and health care system. Did you know they get free health care and women get a 5 month maternity leave AND a free babysitter sent by the government? Also, French kids have more school hours but longer breaks? And instead of multiple tests at the end of the school year, they get one big test at the end of high school?
Koko 3,944 Posted November 12, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions you guys~ Actually when I was looking for an article about what you suggested Uke VenRox, I found another pretty interesting article about France passing a new banning law. Thanks for the help! 8D

Luzzekatt 76 Posted November 24, 2010 This time Luzze needs help! I'm making this postcard .. and I can't think of a text to write on it.. It has to be unusual, something you wouldn't normally expect .. (I mean, I don't want something like "Merry Christmas", "Happy thanksgiving" etc.) And well, I can't think of a background colour! I'd appriciate some advice! ^^
Think Pink 1,967 Posted November 25, 2010 ^ That's homework? Google "funny quotes" "silly quotes" or something. They'll give you a lot of good websites. By what physical means could you seperate gold and wood? (Already asked--you can't say you just pulled them apart or out or whatever)

Think Pink 1,967 Posted November 30, 2010 50/10 = x/20. Stupid proportions.
Kaiso 2,764 Posted December 1, 2010 @butterflylexi: 1)Cross Multiply. 2) you should get 20(50) = 10(x) ; multiply the 20 and 50 3) divide by 10 to both sides, then you get your answer! 8D
Think Pink 1,967 Posted December 1, 2010 Thanks, Kaiso. [x = 100] then, right?
Space Cowboy 1,392 Posted December 1, 2010 I have an English project due on Friday. We just finished reading the book "Night", which is about the Holocaust. I need to make a poster showing something evil that the Nazi's did portrayed as something good to show how really evil they were. What should I do?
Cellar Door 652 Posted December 1, 2010 which part of the holocaust did night outline? im not familiar with the book, but i can /try/ to help with holocaust stuff. >: you could draw one of their propaganda posters, maybe? that'd be neat. unless thats what youre supposed to do. idk fml im tired. /failcellahelpisfail8D
the15thwiseone 1 Posted December 1, 2010 How about you try showing a before/after but backwards kinda...like On the left side of the poster show the after effect of a Panzer tank rolling through a town occupied by anti-nazi troops. Then show the before, however show the Nazi's all happy around the panzer and the prisoners on the ground near the tank. and place a quote that is catchy, like For germany, or something. Just an idea. Odd in english class you must...be artistically creative.
Space Cowboy 1,392 Posted December 1, 2010 Yeah, I'm supposed to draw a propaganda poster. 15thwiseone, your idea is good, but my teacher wants something that will really shock him for some reason. And I heard of some sick thing the Nazi's did, and I am going to make a poster of it. They used Jew skulls as wine goblets (so firetrucking sick, excuse my language), so I guess I'll draw some advertisement for these "wine goblets". Ivan 969 Posted December 5, 2010 Hello, I need quite a bit of help for my Chemistry homework. You probably knew I needed help with some form of homework since this is the homework help thread ^^;; You see, my teacher assigned us a project named "Adopt an Element". In this project we broke up into groups and research the element we were given, then make a video about it. My group got the element gold, and right now we're in the process of writing the script. We've decided to do multiple commercials for segments. Some commercials we have so far are the following: Food commercial: Yes, apparently gold can be put into liquor and foods. Weird, yeah. One of those LifeAlert commercials: How gold can be used in medicine. Cellphone commercial: For the isotopes. Cash for gold: Investment and industry and whatnot. Infomercial: Just about the history, and other... things. So I was assigned to write the script for the Food, LifeAlert, and Cash for Gold commercials. I don't necessarily need help on the information on it, but for another matter. I was looking over some of the other ideas my other classmates have for video ideas, and theirs all sound funny and entertaining, while ours is a bit boring, dull, and dry. I really don't want to send my classmates into a snooze-fest. So do any of you have ideas on how to make the scripts funny, or at least amusing, while still being able to keep the facts in it? These are due tomorrow, yay procrastination.
Eterna 274 Posted December 6, 2010 Wow, I'm finished school and I can't even do half of these.
the15thwiseone 1 Posted December 6, 2010 For the food/liquor do Golden slauger say something about "what something that will get you drunk quickly? try Golden slauger: the flakes of gold cut small wholes in your neck leading the alchohol directly into the bloodstream" For the cellphones: Golds resonance and magnetic/w/e properties are pretty low...but i'd say something about it being very malable (able to change its shape with bare hands) in its 100% pure form. Cash for gold is very easy: you could almost just watch a cash for gold comercial and try to mimic that. Infomercial: i'd look up the history of a few things..like El Darado, The gold rush of 1849, Spanish conquistidors, Pirates, and Modern day gold mining. and make a "book name" thats flashy that has a pun in it, or several. And say this book is the history of gold, its early uses, and beliefs and make it into buy this book and you get a "remodled gold deblune with it free." or something. I hope this helps
Anti-SOLDIER 68 Posted February 2, 2011 Okay, so this isn't really homework, but I need your guy's opinions. I work for the school newspaper, yada yada, and I sometimes mess up on my articles. So, I need you guys to tell me what I did wrong. Tell me if you think I need to add something, if I made a typo, if I made grammar mistake, if you have questions, comments, etc. What my teacher wants me to have on the article is the 5 W's (Who, what, where, when, why), two quotes, insight, information, a picture (which I can't show on here)... and maybe some other stuff that I forgot about. The article is about school absences btw. Absences According to Debbie Aldama, an average of around 290 students are absent everyday out of all 1545 students.
