Tails 6,692 Posted November 8, 2018 Well, some interesting news has just recently surfaced. So Square-Enix has just announced through their live stream that three of the four planned DLC for FF XV has now been cancelled. So only "Episode Ardyn" is the only piece of DLC still being developed now. Also Square-Enix Director Hajime Tabata has now left the company and that Square-Enix has lost $33 million. Here's the link to the article if you want proof: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/final-fantasy-15-dlc-canceled-director-hajime-taba/1100-6463112/ So what do you guys think of this? Well what I think...I just have to say "wow". This development with Final Fantasy XV has not been going well for SE. First the long development cycle of the game, to the game being completely unfinished and lackluster, to now having to cancel most of the upcoming DLC because of Tabata leaving. Man FF XV has been nothing but pure dumpster fire. Let's hope that SE learns from all this and make FF XVI be a great and memorable game.
PrinceNoctis 1,011 Posted November 8, 2018 FFXV does have some merit. It's not as bad as people let on but definitely not worth 10 years of development. It is sad to see that the development cycle was a mess from beginning to end. As for Square's loss, that was announced yesterday and is probably due to them cancelling these three projects which they'd already invested in. That's probably why Tabata left as well. If the decision to cancel the DLCs came from the higher ups, he prolly got tired of the bull. Very sad news. Let's hope XVI can return the FF series to its former glory cause the last 3 numbered titles have been very messy. 1 Cricket reacted to this
Cricket 1,180 Posted November 8, 2018 Well, this is depressing. I did enjoy FFXV when it first launched, even though it has certainly been a huge mess onwards. It's good they did not cancel all of the DLC, but maybe this is a step forward SE delicately needs to re-evaluate some key points when developing long-term projects and those overseeing said projects. Really terrible that they lost $33 million...
ITzDarthLordRevan 291 Posted November 8, 2018 Things aren't looking so good for Square... I hope KH 3 manages to sell enough that it makes up for their losses and they manage to learn from their mistakes and redeem the Final Fantasy series. If it doesn't, I'm sure it won't be possible for them to bounce back easily.
Elrandir 783 Posted November 8, 2018 (edited) It is sad to see that three of the four episodes were cancelled, but I guess that must have been one of the reasons of the long silence. I hope Ep. Ardyn explain things because currently it conflicts with the canon of FFXV. Poor Luna, neved had a chance to grow. We lot the chance to play as her in Royal Edition, just for this to happen in the end. This is a sad day. Edited November 8, 2018 by Elrandir
