Seyin95 175 Posted November 6, 2018 Morning all, Today's discussion revolves around Kh3's PR and Advertisement and whether people prefer an 'explosion' category or 'snippet' category. I'll expand upon both categories later on. As we know we recently had the Lucca Conference and from that got a reiteration of news we already new and less than two minutes of Tangled footage. For me this was brilliant, not only does this allow us to compare the progress from previous footage such as E3 2015, but also to focus on the smaller aspects of the world. Nothing too major, nothing too small. Add this to the Screenshots and Halloween 'clip' and we can admit information is being provided. Carrying on, the Demo has had the potential to reach a global audience from the UK, USA and so on- again nothing too major, but it does allow a window of opportunity to have a taster of the game. Combining all of this together we have our 'snippet' category- nothing huge revealed, but rather a gradual continuation of small news. I have no issue with this, as it's fun to see anything, especially if you're like me and like seeing progression. However, and this leads us to our 'explosion' category, 'snippets' don't generate wide interest and with the release date ever so near, I can understand why people might be saddened by this. The 'explosion' category is what we saw at TGS, E3 2018 etc- big trailers, world reveals and plot information. The advantage this category has is that it creates mass interest both externally via worlds and internally via plot. Whilst this is good, there have rightfully been questions asked about how much is too much? Now in relation to 'explosion' vs 'snippet' from a PR perspective going big all the time can be harmful and inappropriate and instead being selective is probably the best step. With the release date so far, I'd personally go for the strategy of 'snippets' until JF, where that is the prime time for an 'explosion'- give us a world reveal and what not to generate interest with a month to go and then finish in January with the Opening. It's deeply fascinating how SE are going about this and people's reaction to the PR the far too.
Tyranto Rex 277 Posted November 7, 2018 I'm kinda conflicted about the whole thing. On one hand snippet trailers, like you call them, are nice and fun, but they are hard to keep you excited or interested for long. You watch it, think "Oh, this was nice," and go on to the next thing. While the explosion trailers are exciting and can keep you hyped for weeks afterward. You analyse it to death. I keeps you pumped. Now, I agree there can be too many explosion trailers and we definitely don't need one at every event. But at the same time, waiting like two months for a new trailer and all you get is some small snippets from an already revealed world can be a little disappointing. And they don't have many events left to reveal all the worlds. But maybe they plan to reveal all of them at Jump Festa? Who knows?
Keyblader number one 40 Posted November 8, 2018 Just you wait till they're on Youtube annoying commercials where you won't Skip. I also wonder if they will be on ESPN ads. Gosh imagine they do a commercial skit with Stephen A Smith.
