Roleplay The College Chronicles (1x1 with aoi hoshi)

Kairi rolled her eyes. “Not this again,” she said, shaking her head. She met Lightning’s gaze, catching the confusion in her expression. Kairi stepped up to be next to her since the line was moving. “When we were kids, they had to compete over everything. The name of a raft, who got the best shade spot on the beach, who could catch a fish the fastest... It was constant.”

“Beach?” Lightning repeated. There wasn’t a beach on Radiant Garden. Where were they from?

“We’re from Destiny Islands,” Riku said, using one hand to cover Sora’s face, “We all grew up together and—Ewww!” Riku abruptly recoiled and looked at Sora with disgust, “Did you just lick my hand?!”

“Your hand was covering my face. You were an easy target,” Sora said simply.

Riku wiped the saliva on his pants and cast Kairi an annoyed look. “Can you do something about him?”

Kairi tilted her head. “Well...I can do multiple things. What do you suggest?” she asked, biting her lip. She could tickle Sora, drag him away from Riku to separate them (much like children), or.... Well, she couldn’t do that other thing.

“Whatever you’re going to do to me, you should do to Riku too!” Sora said with a pout. He really hoped it wouldn’t be the tickle monster though. The brunet knew Kairi’s skills at that game, and his lungs would be on fire from her touch. His heart too, but that would be for another reason.

“I’m not the one who was licking people,” Riku shot back. Though, he grudgingly admitted the strategy had worked.

“I mean, you could always lick him back, Riku,” Kairi said. It was only fair. But it would be rather disgusting.

Lightning pressed her lips together to keep from laughing as she faced the line, her back to the boys. The mental picture was too amusing, she had to admit. But she would just see how this played out.

“Tempting,” Riku jokes, “but that’d be a little too much for me. I’d say a classic Kairi special is just the right amount of punishment.” When he saw the horror on Sora’s face, Riku only offered false sympathy. “Poor, Sora.”

Sora cringed and closed his eyes in anticipation. A Kairi special could be many things. He only hoped she had a little mercy on him.

Kairi looked between Sora and Riku, thinking about what exactly she should do. One time she promised not to talk to either of them until they apologized to each other and said three things they liked about the other, but that wouldn’t work anymore. There really wasn’t much she could do to either of them since they were bigger and stronger than her now. However, Kairi then realized what Riku said. “Wait...’Kairi special?’” She put her hands on her hips. “You trademarked me?”

“Uhhh,” both boys said in unison. The look on her face did not betray any amusement.

“You see,” Riku began but then faltered. How would he climb out of this hole?

“You were always the one who um,” Sora tried, but like Riku, felt his lips grow dry. What could they possibly say that wouldn’t sound bad? It had been an inside joke between the two boys for years, but now that Kairi knew about it...

Luckily, the two were saved by the bored looking cashier at the front. “How may I take your order?” She drawled, hand cupping her chin.

Kairi rolled her eyes and turned to the cashier. “What’s your biggest, most expensive pizza?” She crossed her arms and glared at the boys. “They’re buying.” How rude of them to poke fun at her like that! And for so many years behind her back? “What do you want, Lightning?”

“Anything but anchovies,” Light announced. She didn’t care other than that. But...she would try to be neutral here, because there was definitely tension between the three friends.

Both boys hung their heads. They really had screwed themselves over. Kairi would not forgive fast or easily for this one. “You better have a few money on you,” Riku grumbled to Sora who then proceeded to hand the other boy a wad of crumpled bills.

“All I got,” he said mournfully. The cashier took the munny and handed them a receipt. “Your pizza will be brought out in a minute. Please go take your seats.”

While Kairi turned and immediately headed for a table, Lightning spared the boys a glance. Clearly Kairi wasn’t someone to mess with, but that was pretty evident at Snow’s party in the past. Lightning lifted an eyebrow at the boys and then followed Kairi toward a table. They got themselves in this mess, they could get themselves out.

The pizza was brought over quickly and the grease puddles were evident on each slice. Sora could feel his mouth water, but he waited for the girls to take their slices before indulging himself. Everyone was quiet for a few minutes as they ate. Sora and Riku, however, were mostly uncertain as to what they could say to remedy the situation.

“What can we do to make it up to you?” Riku finally asked with an exaggerated sigh. Surely, there was something they could do...

Kairi glanced over at Lightning, who smiled around her bite of pizza. “Hm,” she hummed, looking at the boys across the table. After a minute, she smirked. “Sora, you know where we’re going after this. Let’s leave it at that for now.” Riku obviously was still clueless, and it would stay that way until later.

Sora visibly paled at the insinuation. He had a very bad feeling about this. “Oh, boy...”

Riku’s eyes darted between them, distressed evident on his face. “What? Where are we going? Sora!?”

Sora could only shake his head. “Sorry, man...” Whatever happened, their fates were sealed.

Riku exhaled slowly, trying to keep his cool. He was starting to have a sinking feeling about their next location. “Nothing left to do but eat up now...”

While the group ate their pizza, Roxas focused on the big screen in front of him. He stood next to Namine—or rather, danced. They were playing a game Namine pointed out, where rhythm and timing were key. Luckily for him, he had those things due to being a musician. They had racked up quite a few tickets now, since they had been doing this for a while. He had to admit, though...even if he never would have picked this game, he was glad Namine did. This was fun.

“Enjoying yourself?” Naminé called out teasingly over the music. Her feet moved of their own accord to the music,, which was a high tempo EDM song with indistinguishable lyrics. She knew Roxas would be good at this game. His coordination and musical talent were a perfect combination. A building group of onlookers was forming around them as their scores went up.

Roxas chuckled. “Maybe,” he teased. “You?” She did suggest it after all. He doubted she got bored, considering they were still going. He was surprised that their friends hadn’t found them yet. The crowd around them wasn’t exactly subtle.

“Maybe,” She teased back. Her cheeks were flushed from how much dancing they had been doing, the red providing a contrast to her porcelain skin. Beads of sweat fell from her forehead and when she looked over at Roxas, she could see the same for him as well. She bit her lip. She didn’t understand how it was possible, but somehow he looked more attractive like that? As her thoughts wandered, Naminé’s foot slipped off and she fell backward against the rail encasing the game. Her breathing was heavy but she still shouted out to her companion. “You can do it, Roxas! Keep going!” The arrows on her screen had disappeared and were replaced by a score much higher than she had expected, given her stamina.

“Wait what?!” Roxas cried in shock. He had stumbled over his own feet when Namine slipped, but he quickly got back into the game. This song was one of the hardest, but they hadn’t done all of this for nothing. He was going to get the high score, no matter what!

Chanting started up as Roxas continued playing, and Naminé grinned tiredly as she watched. This was the most fun she’s had in a while!

Sora spotted Roxas first, the crowd roaring as he hit each step perfectly. “Hey, Roxas!” He called out, but his voice was drowned out by another barrage of cheers. He turned back to Kairi. “See Naminé anywhere?” Roxas was unlikely to leave her by herself, so the blonde girl was likely nearby.

In order to be heard over the cheers, Kairi grasped Sora’s shoulder and pushed herself on her toes to talk in his ear. “She’s on the other side,” she cried over the crowd. Namine must have been playing but got knocked out.

Sora lifted his head slightly, finally catching sight of the blonde. “C’mon,” he said, taking her hand and weaving through the crowd to reach the front. “The others will catch up.”

“You found us,” Naminé said between breaths. Her wave was lazy.

Kairi felt giddy when Sora grabbed her hand. If she remembered correctly, this was the first time he initiated the contact. It made her cheeks flush. But they weren’t as red as Namine’s. She looked exhausted. Roxas was still going. “How long have you been at it?” She noticed that her hand was still in Sora’s. Did she pull away?

“About an hour,” Naminé answered. A countdown had started from the crowd now as the song was winding down. At the number 1, everyone cheered as a new high score was displayed on the screen. Naminé looked back over and let out a cheer herself. Part of her hoped this was the last game for now. ‘I need a break...’

Roxas's eyes widened when he saw the score and heard the cheers. He turned around and threw his hands up in the air. "Yeah!" he hollered in joy. He did it! No...they did it, him and Namine. He turned to her and grabbed her hand closest to him, holding it up in the air. The roars from the crowd grew in another round of applause.
