Forever Love 82 Posted August 7, 2018 Lightning nodded. Right, all set. “By the way, thanks for having my back earlier. You didn’t have to do that...” she said. Most guys she had encountered so far would have left her to fend for herself. She could of course, but Riku went out of his way. She appreciated that, even if she hadn’t shown it well. aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 7, 2018 “No problem,” Riku said, bashfully rubbing his neck, “I mean it’s nothing really. You’re my friend, so I can’t leave you to fend for yourself.” Right. A friend. Lightning was his friend. Nothing more, nothing less. He thought deflated him slightly, but he kept a soft smile intact as he started to walk away and back towards his own dorm. Forever Love 82 Posted August 7, 2018 “Right... See you, friend,” Lightning said softly to herself. She watched Riku walk away, smiling to herself. A friend. Who knew she was capable of making friends? Lightning glanced at the ground before turning, unlocking her door, and stepping inside. It was time to get cleaned up. aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 7, 2018 (edited) Finally back at his dorm, Riku entered his room and flipped down on the bed. Thoughts of Lightning still swirled in his head; his mind continually conjured the image of her in the gym—hair up and beads of sweat clinging to her like a second skin. Riku groaned and buried his face with his arm. What was he going to do? This feeling was worse than when he found out Kairi was interested in Sora over him when they were kids. It was warm but made his heart ache. “Becoming a Master was easier than this...” Riku moves his arm and looked back at his phone. Sora had texted him. “Guess they finally figured out the plan for tonight.” He texted his best friend back to confirm and mention Lightning’s possible presence. Sora’s response was, as expected, teasing. “Of course she can come with. Though, I’m a little surprised that you’re already so close.” Riku sighed in annoyance, but typed back. “She’s just a friend. What time are you thinking?” “We’ll be meeting at the campus center at 5 to go to the arcade,” Sora answered. “K. I’ll let her know.” After sending the text to Sora, Riku started a new message to Lightning. He stared blankly at it a moment before giving her the details for tonight. His finger hovered the send button hesitantly. ‘It’s just a text’ Riku reminded himself and clicked send. Tonight would be interesting. Forever Love 82 Posted August 7, 2018 Lightning had just hopped out of her own private shower (being an RA had its perks) when she heard her phone chime. Upon seeing Riku’s name, her heart lurched. She blinked at the feeling. How strange. Regardless, she read the text. “Meet at the campus center at 5? Going to the arcade,” she read aloud. Arcade? She couldn’t remember ever going to one of those... “Sounds good. See you soon,” she texted in reply. But what did one wear to an arcade?
aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 8, 2018 Riku felt his heart jump slightly at her response. “She said yes,” he mumbled to himself, unaware that a goofy grin had found its way onto his lips. He pushed himself upright and off the bed. A shower. He needed a shower. And something else to wear that didn’t smell like the inside of a locker room. “But a shower first,” Riku said to himself. He didn’t want to suffocate anyone, or rather Lightning, with his body odor. Naminé was the first to be found outside of the campus center, sketchbook tucked under one arm as she waited for her friends to arrive. Art class had been fun. It was strange using her colored pencils to create something for herself. She was so used to recreating that the notion of creating an original seemed entirely foreign to her. ‘I wonder how the others are doing?’ Though, of course, her thoughts mostly strayed to Roxas. He seemed much more at ease now...
Forever Love 82 Posted August 8, 2018 (edited) Roxas spotted Namine outside the campus center on her own, and he used this as the perfect opportunity to sneak up on her. With his sneakers, it was rather easy. Roxas moved quietly and once a few feet behind her, he slowed his pace. His eyes briefly roamed her figure but he forced himself to focus. Roxas lifted his hands and then grabbed her upper arms from behind. “Rah!” he roared playfully. His outburst attracted attention from nearby students, but he didn’t exactly care. aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 8, 2018 “Ahhh!” Naminé shrieked with a visible jolt, nearly dropping her sketchbook. When she turned around and saw Roxas, she pouted and poked at his chest. “Not funny!” Her lips, however, betrayed a blossoming smile at his antics. ‘What a silly boy,’ she thought. Forever Love 82 Posted August 8, 2018 “Ow!” Roxas chuckled, lifting a hand to where he was poked. He continued to laugh, despite Namine claiming it wasn’t funny. “Gotcha.” He sent Namine a goofy grin. He was proud of that achievement. It wasn’t often that he got the opportunity to scare anyone. That shriek was adorable, and hilarious.
aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 8, 2018 Naminé rolled her eyes lightly but couldn’t help but giggle at his grin. She held a hand against her mouth to try to stifle the sound. “Looks like we’re the first ones here,” she observed once she had calmed her laughter.
Forever Love 82 Posted August 8, 2018 Roxas put his hands in his pockets and nodded. “Yep. I think Sora was waiting for Kairi when I left the dorm,” he said. How wasn’t he surprised? Something about college—at least to Roxas—made Sora bold. He was spending more time with Kairi than he remembered in the past. Or he was just more devoted to her since the threat from Xehanort was gone.
aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 8, 2018 “Those two are certainly getting closer,” Naminé commented, her eyes softening. She was happy her best friend was growing closer to Sora. Even before the two had met, Naminé knew how much those two had meant to one another. Kairi was willing to fight Saix to see Sora, and Sora was willing to lose everything if it meant remembering Kairi. “I wonder how long it will take...,” she mused. Though, in her heart, the sentiment was two fold as she stood next to the boy she treasured.
Forever Love 82 Posted August 8, 2018 (edited) Roxas opened his mouth to speak, but then he heard a squeal—one he didn’t cause. Looking back the way he came, he realized it was Kairi who yelled. Of course, it was due to Sora. Kairi tightened her legs around Sora’s waist as he ran through the area to meet their friends. He offered to carry her on his back for old time’s sake, and she agreed. Now he sprinted through the area and she had to cling for dear life. He said he didn’t want to be late, but she didn’t think this was what he had in mind. Regardless, she couldn’t help but laugh, her arms over his shoulders and his spikes tickling her face as she kept her head close to his. “Sora!” Edited August 8, 2018 by Forever Love
aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 8, 2018 Sora’s laughter came out between loud gasps as he ran. He jostled her a little on purpose. “I told ya I’d get us there in time!” He beamed, “A little pixie dust and maybe we can fly next time!” He really did need to take her to Neverland one of these days. Sora skid to a stop once they reached the others, his whole body lurching forward before finally falling back into a slightly hunched over but otherwise normal standing position. From behind them, Riku’s voice rang out, “I didn’t know this was a race or I would have beaten you two lazy bums by now.”
Forever Love 82 Posted August 8, 2018 (edited) Kairi squealed again when Sora came to a stop. Riku’s voice rang in her ears, but she wasn’t sure how to respond. Instead she took in Sora’s strength, which was clear given how he carried her with ease. His hands gripped her legs securely, and something about having them grasping her legs sent her heart in a tizzy. Her hands pressed against his chest, over his pecs. Sora definitely wasn’t a kid anymore. Edited August 8, 2018 by Forever Love
aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 8, 2018 “Pshhh,” Sora snorted and gave Riku a cocky grin, “I can beat you anytime, any place.” There was a flush to his cheeks from the excitement of running, but he couldn’t deny that part of it was due holding Kairi. The feel of her smooth skin heart thunder. He hoped his palms weren’t too clammy. That would be gross. “Is everything a competition with these two?” Naminé asked Kairi, shaking her head with a sigh. Forever Love 82 Posted August 9, 2018 Kairi shrugged, relaxing in Sora’s hold. His hands on her legs, his warmth against her chest, and his spikes tickling her face. “Basically,” she confirmed with a smile. Sora and Riku never stopped competing. Well, they eventually stopped competing for her—though she wondered why that was... Lightning made her way to the campus center, dressed in a navy halter tank top that hugged her figure nicely, jean shorts, and comfortable shoes. This would work for an arcade, right? She had never been to one before, so she wasn’t sure what to expect. She saw the group up ahead, spotting Roxas and Namine close together, Sora and Kairi literally together, and then Riku. Her gaze lingered on him the longest.
aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 9, 2018 Riku waved upon seeing her. “Long time no see. Ready to go?” Riku asked, trying to keep his aqua colored eyes from observing her frame too much or too long. ‘She looks good,” Riku thought before snapping his gaze back to the group. “So, just the arcade today, right?” Sora shrugged hit his smile was secret. Devilish. “Oh, you’ll see...” he wasn’t going to mention that he and Kairi had made reservations at a local karaoke bar. Riku wouldn’t agree to it otherwise. Riku exchanged looks with the others. “That makes me nervous but okay...”
Forever Love 82 Posted August 9, 2018 Kairi hid her smile behind Sora’s spiky head. Riku was going to hate them later. She tapped Sora’s chest with gentle hands. “Onward, noble steed,” she joked. It was time for them to go!
aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 9, 2018 Sora used his foot to paw at the ground in response. “As you wish, milady,” he returned cheekily. The others followed behind them, throwing the occasional teasing comment their way. The arcade itself was only a few blocks away and even from the outside you could hear various shouts, cheering, and a heavy EDM beat. “We have arrived!” Sora announced. Forever Love 82 Posted August 9, 2018 Lightning had a small smirk on her face the walk to the arcade due to Sora and Kairi’s antics. She gave them until the second semester to couple up. She wondered if Riku would bet on that... She looked up at him briefly, the young man several inches taller than her. His jawline was sharp in the dimming lighting. Shadows also bounced off the angles of his face due to the neon lights inside. Loud cheering caught her attention, and she glanced over to a gun game to see two friends celebrating with high-fives. She lifted an eyebrow in curiosity. Hm....
aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 9, 2018 “Wanna play?” Riku asked, a smirk decorating his own lips. Sora was already dragging Kairi over to one of the race car games, and Roxas and Naminé had wandered over someplace else together. So, it was just the two of them. Riku admired how the neon lights played across her face, illuminating her crystal blue eyes so they looked like twinkling stars.
Forever Love 82 Posted August 9, 2018 Lightning turned her head to face Riku, but the way he looked at her just now had her feeling...shy? Was that it? He must have seen her looking at the gun game, and since she wasn't that bad of a shot, she figured it would be more comforting to start there. "Sure," she answered with a faint nod. Lightning glanced at him briefly before starting in that direction. She wondered if the simulator was comparable to an actual gun. She would find out. aoi hoshi 3 Posted August 9, 2018 “Ladies first,” Riku said, gesturing towards the game. He felt a little awkward that it was just the two of them. Of course, he wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. There was a pull between them. One Riku had never felt before. Yet, the situation...it felt like a date. But it wasn’t, right? They were just two friends hanging out. “I’ve got the tokens,” Riku added, putting a few gold coins into her hand. When their fingers touched, Riku lingered briefly before pulling away. The sensation sent tingles all up along his arm.
Forever Love 82 Posted August 9, 2018 (edited) Lightning curled her fingers over the coins, matching Riku's gaze for a moment. He...felt that too, didn't he? You're getting soft, she scolded. She couldn't...not now. Her whole life she had avoided her emotions. She couldn't give into them now because of some guy. But...he wasn't just some guy, was he? Lightning turned, placed the necessary tokens into the machine and picked up the game's firearm. She held it with ease, and though it was a little light due to being plastic, she adjusted her grip accordingly. "Taking bets?" she asked, glancing over at Riku with a faint smirk. They could place a friendly wager on this game, right? Edited August 9, 2018 by Forever Love
