Roleplay The College Chronicles (1x1 with aoi hoshi)

The boy looked up, slightly frustrated that his heart leaped at the sound of her voice, but also...relieved? He hadn't spoken to Kairi in too long. The uncertainty in her voice, that usually rang out confidently, caused him to hesitate as well. "K-Kairi?" He wanted to ask where Noel was, but the boy's name was still like poison on his lips.

Kairi felt shy under Sora’s gaze. His blue eyes were as beautiful as ever. She missed them... And his voice—it’s warm tone graced her ears and heart wonderfully.”....Hi,” she greeted timidly. It was just her, and just him. No friends or Noel involved.

"Hey," he offered in return, "H-How are you?" Happy he was sure, but the question still felt necessary? Maybe she had missed him like he missed her? Sora wasn't quite so sure though.

“I’m okay,” Kairi admitted softly. She had fun tonight—so far. But that didn’t mean she was truly happy. Especially with how things were between her and Sora. She took a small step closer to him. “And you?”

Sora shrugged, trying to hide his apathy with a half smile. "I'm...fine. Just kinda bored I guess. Roxas and Naminé have been trying to get to play some games, but I don't know if I really want to play those either." He could smell her perfume now--the one she probably wore when thinking of going out with Noel tonight. Lucky...

“That doesn’t sound like you,” Kairi told him, tilting her head. This wasn’t the Sora she knew at all. He was all about festivals and rides and games. And here he was, sitting alone. Was this her fault?

"It's fine. I'm fine," Sora said offhandedly, "Don't worry too much about me. I'll probably head back to the dorms soon. Let Roxas have some alone time with Naminé." He wanted to stay for Roxas's performance, but Noel's presence made it difficult. Or more his closeness with Kairi.

Kairi looked at Sora for a moment, a bit disappointed. He was lying. Didn’t he realize how well she could read him after all these years? He still sat there, not even trying to really welcome her to this conversation. And now he was talking about leaving. He really didn’t want to see her, did he? Maybe Namine was wrong. “Sora,” she said then, tone a bit firmer with him now. Kairi couldn’t beat around the bush anymore. “What’s going on with us?”

The questioned startled him. He hadn't been expecting her to ask so directly. What did he say? What could he say? "I...I don't know. We fought and then I guess..." He rubbed the back his head and finally looked up at her periwinkle eyes. The hurt in them was evident, and Sora hated that he had caused it. "I just don't know what to do." Sora confessed quietly. "I'm sorry for what I said and how I said it, but...I don't like seeing you be treated like a piece of meat." I don't like other guys looking at you at all really. But he couldn't voice those thoughts.

Kairi's eyebrows furrowed. "...Is Noel treating me like a piece of meat?" she asked, bold. That was how she took it at first, but then she realized he probably just meant the models. Kairi closed her eyes, taking in a breath. She couldn't jump to conclusions.

Sora shook his head quickly and held up his hands defensively. "N-No! I mean not that I could see. He seems...nice." Perfect really. Probably more fun than me.

"Then why have you been avoiding me?" Kairi asked, opening her eyes. They were moist with sudden tears. She didn't want to cry in front of Sora, ever, but this became too much for her. She hated that he wasn't around, that he dodged her at every turn, or completely acted like she didn't exist. She missed her best friend. She missed...him. "You don't talk to me anymore. You barely even look at me, Sora! What did I do?"

"...I just...," Sora released a tired, exasperated sigh and ran a hand through his hair, "It's hard to see you...with Noel." Because I want to be with you. He couldn't say that either though. Not with Noel involved.

Kairi gazed at her best friend--or was he even that anymore?--in a stunned silence. It was hard seeing her with Noel? Did that mean...that he was jealous? "What?" she asked, voice hoarse. What did that mean?

"..." Sora chewed his bottom lip. What could he say to that question without giving his heart away? "It's...weird. I don't know quite how to say it right. Just me and Riku have usually been your only guy friends...Ugh. None of this is coming out right." Sora rubbed his face with his hands.

Kairi crossed her arms. "So I'm not allowed to date without your permission?" she asked, eyes still moist with unshed tears. How was this happening? Was this real? Sora couldn't be serious! He was supposed to be her best friend! Someone to support her and be there for her, not...disapprove of who she chose to be with.

"That's not it," Sora said hastily. He didn't want to fall into that conversation again, even if he wasn't particularly fond of Kairi dating anyone. "I just...really care about you, Kairi. I'm sorry if I'm coming across like a real jerk. I've missed talking to you. I..." He released a shaky breath. "I can't be happy when I'm not around you. This Noel thing is just...hard." He wanted to support her. He did. Noel wasn't even a bad guy either. It was his heart that was the problem.

"But why?" Kairi asked, keeping her arms crossed. She had to admit, she was a little self-conscious about her wardrobe now that Sora brought up guys thinking she was a piece of meat. Did he think that of her too? Even a little bit? Did he not "approve" of her outfit? She wasn't sure she could count on Sora to admit it. He wouldn't even stand up to talk to her; he still sat against the tree. It felt like she was lecturing a little kid, and she hated it. But...she couldn't deny that the way he worded his feelings just now had her heart skipping. He couldn't be happy if he wasn't with her...and her being with Noel was difficult for him. So...he was jealous.

Sora wanted to bang his head against the tree. The confession was on the tip of his tongue. "Because...because I'm jealous." There he said it. "I wish we could spend more time together...I miss my best friend." He didn't want to lose Kairi. He couldn't lose her. "You've been spending so much time with Noel. I guess it kinda feels like you don't need me anymore..." Which was true, even if it wasn't entirely true.

Kairi blinked, features softening considerably at the declaration. So this was a matter of replacement? Sora thought she didn't need him anymore? You dummy, she thought, a tear trickling down her cheek. I could never be without you. Kairi lifted her hands to cover her face, fighting her emotions. She didn't want him to see her cry.

Seeing the tear cascade down her cheek, Sora's eyes widened. He pulled himself upright and, without thinking, moved her hands away from her face to brush his thumb along her cheek. "Please...don't cry, Kairi. I don't like it when you cry," Sora murmured quietly, soothingly. His heart ached at the sight. How could he have done this to her?

Kairi's heart fluttered at Sora's touch. His voice made her sad, but at the same time, it comforted her. She lifted a hand to sit on his arm extended toward her cheek, leaning into his hand on her face. She missed his warmth. And the way his thumb brushed over her skin had another tear slipping from her eye. I missed you...

When she leaned into his touch, Sora smiled warmly. He had missed this. "Can you...forgive me, Kairi?" If she would forgive him. Even if she wanted to be with someone that wasn't him. If she would just forgive him, he would try his hardest...to support them. Her and Noel.

Kairi kept her eyes closed and nodded a little, squeezing Sora's forearm. Of course she could forgive him. Yes, hurtful comments were made, but every friendship experienced conflict. "Don't leave again...okay?" she whispered, then looking up at him. He never really "left", but he wasn't really "there" either. She needed him, despite what he thought. Without Sora, Kairi wasn't herself.

"I promise," Sora vowed and drew the red haired princess into his arms. His whisper was against her skin. "I couldn't stand being away from you like that. Drove me crazy." And it had. Sora wasn't sure he could survive the silence a second time. Their hearts were so intertwined. Even if it wasn't how he wished. They were part of one another's lives. Forever.
