Roleplay The College Chronicles (1x1 with aoi hoshi)

Recommended Posts

Roxas nodded slightly to Sora as they passed the table, his hand holding Namine's securely. He led her outside. It was significantly quieter outside the karaoke bar. Still holding Namine's hand, he turned to face her. "Namine..." he started softly, but he wasn't sure what exactly to say. She deserved to know that what just happened wasn't her fault. What happened in Twilight Town all those years ago wasn't her fault, either. She was a victim, not responsible.

She faced him with a watery smile. “It’s okay. What happened was in the past. I know that. It’s just...” It hurts to think about everything I did back then too. To help Sora, sure. But weren’t there things are that were better left unsaid? Didn’t she hurt Roxas? Naminé felt that same internal conflict swell in her chest until she was sure she would break.

Roxas tilted his head slightly. He had never seen Namine so...upset before. True, he had seen her solemn and concerned, but never sad. He tightened his grasp on her hand. "Namine, you did nothing wrong back then, okay? You risked everything to help me. I was lost and you told me the truth, which was what I wanted," he explained. "Don't think for a second that you did anything that made things worse. If it weren't for you being honest with me, we wouldn't be here right now." And that was the truth. If Namine hadn't guided him to his destiny, there was a good chance Sora wouldn't have woken up, and they wouldn't be whole.

“But the reason Sora was alsleep in the first place...was because of me. I took apart his memories,” she said meeting his eyes again. She thought back to all those fake memories she had drawn under the organization’s watch. “I put them back, but I should never have listened to them in the first place. I know everything worked out, but I still feel like a...witch.” She spat the last word as if it were full of posion. “My powers...they caused so much trouble, and I helped you. I wanted to meet you so desperately, but...” she trailed off again and squeezed his hand. “I feel like there was a better way to tell you. I was so...harsh back then.”

Roxas smiled slightly at the memory. "You were, but...that was what I needed," he said in her defense. "I never got the chance to thank you." He wouldn't have been who he was today without her. She had to have at least known that. Without Namine, Roxas wasn't....Roxas.

“There’s no need to,” she started to sniff, suddenly overcome by his words. Why was he so sweet to her? “You...you deserved to know. No one cares when I found out. The Organization or DiZ.” I was just a tool. “But I wanted you to know the truth from someone who did.” Nobodies might have been deemed as other, but they didn’t deserve to be led blindly. Not when their own existences were at stake. Especially not when it was Roxas who had been innocent.

Roxas thought he saw Namine's eyes moisten. He grasped her hand more tightly and closed the distance between them, bringing her to his chest. He held her to him securely, closing his eyes as her words touched him. He didn't know the whole story of what she went through, but from what he did know, she was miserable. Nobody deserved that, especially when they were as good-hearted as her. "...Thank you, Namine," he told her, finally expressing his gratitude after so long. She saved him, whether she believed it or not.

She wrapped her arms around him and cried softly into his chest. Those three words meant more to her than she could ever express. Hearing them sent her heart soaring. “Y-You’re welcome,” she replied simply. The night felt still for that moment as he held her.

Roxas lifted a hand to the back of Namine's head and closed his eyes, his fingers weaving into her hair. It was soft beneath his touch, but Roxas was sure that the outside reflected the inside when it came to her. Namine's heart was soft, gentle, pure, and loving. He was lucky to have someone like her in his life, as a friend or otherwise.

Naminé leaned into his touch, slowly closing her own eyes. This was happiness she decided. She could feel her heart slow again, seeming to sync with his. Was it selfish that she wanted to keep this to herself? Keep him to herself? “We should probably head back inside,” she mumbled after another minute. She didn’t want to leave really, but the others might worry if they didn’t.

"Yeah," Roxas agreed softly, "we should." But he didn't want to... He opened his eyes to stare at the sidewalk behind Namine, taking in the feel of her in his arms. When would he get this chance again? He realized that just by the way this interaction made him feel--how his heart was calm and happy at Namine's closeness--that he liked Namine as more than a friend. There was definitely a crush, but...he wasn't sure where to go from there.

She pulled away from him reluctantly, casting him a shy smile. “I’m happy you were here tonight. I always feel...safe when we’re together.” ‘I feel like I can tell you anything.’ Already she missed their bubble of bliss.

Roxas smiled gently at that. The sentiment was nice to hear. "I'm glad I was here too," he agreed, taking his hands back slowly. If he hadn't, he was sure Sora or Riku would have stepped in with Owen, but Roxas felt he was the one to protect Namine. He recognized that the second he met her in Twilight Town.

From inside, Naminé could hear another song being sung. The voice was familiar too? “I think...Kairi’s singing?” She told Roxas, her brow furrowing. It was hard to tell from outside though. “Let’s go check it out!”

Roxas's smile grew slightly. "Okay," he said. He motioned toward the door. Namine could lead.

Kairi sang into her microphine with confidence, the crowd's reaction to her song choice helping with that. They clapped to the beat as she sang the country tune. "You can't hide from me. There ain't no tricks that you can try on me. I know your every move before you even breathe, baby. Thinking you know something I don't know. But my eyes, my eyes, my eyes...are like a telescope," she sang with a faint smile. Jokingly, she used her fingers to motion from her eyes to her friends at the table, as if she were watching them. This was all in good fun.

Naminé opened the door and stepped back into the karaoke bar with Roxas. As she thought, Kairi was the one on stage singing. Her best friend had a melodious voice—soft, sweet, and held the smallest of twangs to it. Naminé had heard her other sing before since they lived together, but it made Naminé smile to see the red head on a stage. The crowd swayed as she sang, mesmerized. “She’s always been a good singer,” Naminé said to Roxas fondly.

Sora watched Kairi in a daze as she sang. He didn’t know the song, but the way she sang—her voice—Sora found himself drowning in the melody escaping from her lips. Why didn’t she sing more often? When she directed her words to him and their friends, Sora blushed. The gesture was nothing serious, but Sora felt exposed. Her starry eyes seeing right through him. Like they always did, except Sora was trying to hide his thoughts from her. His infatuation, admiration, and thundering heart.

Roxas smiled a little, though it was also an expression of humor. “Can’t say the same for Sora,” he admitted with a chuckle. One way Sora and Roxas weren’t alike was their singing ability. Roxas could claim that one all on his own.

“Baby...like a telescope,” Kairi finished. As soon as the music ended, she received applause and a few whistles. She assumed those were from other guys. She giggled. “Thank you!” She then hopped off the stage as someone else took her place. Kairi briefly waved at the two blondes by the entrance, happy to see they were alright, before making her way back to her table. She caught the look Sora wore. Was that...good?

“You really can’t,” Naminé admitted with a giggle. Sora was a sweet boy, but his singing abilities were...questionable. Naminé waved back at Kairi and started to weave her way back towards their group. “I wonder what Sora’s thinking right now?” Knowing much about the inner workings of his heart personally, Naminé could already picture a love struck expression on the boy’s face.

“Since when can you sing like that?” Sora asked. His eyes were wide and a pink hue still tinted his cheeks. “You never sang around me and Riku growing up?” How was she that amazing? Was it legal to be that beautiful and talented? Didn’t it disturb the world order or something?

Roxas followed Namine to the table. Before they got there, he saw Sora’s face. “Oh man,” he chuckled. Sora was head over heels.

Kairi shrugged. “I guess not,” she admitted. She couldn’t remember ever singing in front of them, now that she thought about it. “Besides, even if I did, you two were too busy competing to probably notice.” Not that it was a bad thing. It was just how they were.

“Oh, we would have noticed,” Riku said with a laugh. It would have fueled the fire of their competition even more. Who Kairi would sing for. Who Kairi liked singing to more.

“I see you picked your favorite song tonight,” Naminé teased once she was back at the table with Roxas. She noticed Sora’s star struck expression and had to hide her smile behind her hand. So predictable.

Kairi looked from Namine to Roxas and then back again. She smiled sheepishly. She may have had that song on repeat in the dorm quite a bit lately. "Maybe. But you haven't sung yours yet, either," she said. Namine had yet to sing. And so did Lightning, though she doubted Lightning would actually partake in karaoke; she didn't seem like the type.

Naminé’s giggles turned nervous. “I suppose I haven’t gone yet, have I?” She supposed now was as good of a time as any other. Though, the audience made her nervous. Naminé wasn’t exactly the most outgoing person in the world. “What are you going to sing, Lightning?”

Lightning paused in the chewing of her french fry, and she looked around the table at the expectant gazes. "Oh...no, no. Uh..." She shook her head and glanced from the stage and then down at the table. "I don't sing." And she wouldn't. She did have to keep up her image--the tough girl, the one nobody dared to embarrass or mess with. Humilating herself in front of everyone would completely ruin that. "Sorry."

“Heh, I would have pretty surprised had you said yes,” Riku finally said, breaking his gaze as he leaned back in his seat with an amused smirk. He wouldn’t lie and say that he hadn’t been hoping to hear her sing, but the result wasn’t unexpected. Not that he blamed her. Karaoke was his worst nightmare next to anything Ansem related.

“On second thought,” Naminé mumbled, seeing the male glances flicker towards her off and on, “I’m going to pass this time too. I don’t know how comfortable I’d be on stage anyway.” And she didn’t want any more drama from another Casanova.

While Lightning smiled faintly towards Riku, Roxas nodded to Namine. "Fair enough. Maybe next time I can sing with you," he volunteered. If that would make her feel more comfortable, he would gladly do it for her.
