Xifos 1 Posted October 29, 2010 i checked and i saw that ther isnt any thread about it well. I really cant understand why Riku in the begining of KH2 he holds this the weird ansem weapon i think its called soul eater and also when you fight against him at Home of the dragons and only after he reavels himself he has the weird twillight keyblade
guillus 3 Posted October 29, 2010 because at the time he still wasnt ready to really enter his so-called "way to the dawn"(because he had used ansems powers in the battle against roxas) only at the end of the game when he turns back to normal its as if it never happened and he is ready to re-enter his "way to the dawn"(actually thats why the keyblade is called "way to the dawn" as well)
Tails 6,692 Posted October 29, 2010 The reason he still had soul eater was because when he transformed into Ansem SoD during his fight with Roxas, which gave him the power of darkness. But when he transformed into Ansem he couldn't use way to dawn anymore because of that. So of course Riku was using soul eater in the land of dragons while fighting Sora. Riku was able to use way to dawn again because of the affects of Ansem the Wise's machine where "anything could happen" which caused Riku to turn back into his original self and once again use soul due to him belonging back into the realm of light. Actually, he did not have the Way to the Dawn before he got it in TWTNW, and he gained it while still in his Ansem, SoD form.
JTD95 1,107 Posted October 29, 2010 Soul Eater is the blade Riku uses in KH1, KH Com/Re:Com, and during most of KH2. Sometime after Riku was in the Land of Dragons and before he gets to TWTNW he somehow gets a Keyblade named "Way to the Dawn" Also, Riku being in the Ansem form is not a reason for him not wielding the "Way to the Dawn" Keyblade. We can see Riku wielding that Keyblade when he is in his Ansem form.

Keyblader 325 Posted October 29, 2010 Soul Eater experienced a change of some sort during the period of time between your encounter with him in Land of the Dragons and his appearance in TWTNW. It became the base for the Keyblade Way to the Dawn, exactly the way Sora's wooden sword became the base for the Kingdom Key when Riku took it from him (If I understood what Reversal was saying correctly.). Riku did have possession of the Soul Eater earlier in the series though, as you might remember, he had it when you found him in Traverse Town in Kingdom Hearts 1. Reversal 53 Posted October 31, 2010 Soul Eater was said to have been originally given to Riku by Maleficent. Sometime between the second Land of Dragons visit and when they meet him at The World that Never Was, it was used as a medium and transformed into Way to Dawn.
