rhys0126 82 Posted June 28, 2018 This is just like a what if situation, but like, how would you feel if someone like Sora died and for the next saga it was a totally new cast of characters? I don’t know why, but for a while I’ve felt like Sora is going to fall to darkness or legitimately die. What do you guys think? Do you think Nomura is just saying that to surprise us when he finally dies or is he being legit and Sora really won’t die?
SoraDaxjer28 263 Posted June 28, 2018 Do not tell Sora!! He would try to alter history by stepping back in time!! That, and I doubt Disney would agree to such a thing, especially after Tetsuya Nomura announced Sora would be the main protagonist until the very end of the series. If he killed Sora off in "'Kingdom Hearts 3'", it would be no different than breaking his word. And that, in itself, is dishonorable. 2 The Transcendent Key and rhys0126 reacted to this
Allwil13 754 Posted June 28, 2018 I think that if they were to do that and feature a brand new cast of characters then the series would become a lot like Final Fantasy, and Nomura has said on multiple occasions that Kigdom Hearts is Sora's story. I think he will always be a key character in the universe, and I'm pretty sure there are plans to continue the series after KHIII. So I highly doubt they'll kill off Sora. 3 Dustin Lübbers, rhys0126 and Movies798 reacted to this

Yeah, I remember him saying that too, actually. A universe reset might be cool, but they would have to be careful with that, I think. I think the series will come to an end eventually, when Sora no longer needs to go on adventures. 1 rhys0126 reacted to this
SoraDaxjer28 263 Posted June 28, 2018 (edited) Yeah, I remember him saying that too, actually. A universe reset might be cool, but they would have to be careful with that, I think. I think the series will come to an end eventually, when Sora no longer needs to go on adventures. That shall only take place once Sora terminates the Darkness for good and the worlds are all united into one. Like it says in "'Kingdom Hearts 1'", Sora's "'...fight won't be over until he saves Kairi and vanquishes the Darkness.'". The bottom line? If Sora dies suddenly, the battle is still not over yet. Merilly 438 Posted June 28, 2018 I mean, he could potentially die. As far as I'm aware, Nomura never claimed he wouldn't. Since the concept of death is rather ambiguous in KH, it's certainly not always a lasting state. In a way, he already "died" before when he stabbed himself in KH1. So it's possible he will sacrifice himself and be brought back later or something. It depends on what people consider as dead. In that regard, it appears KH is a lot like Marvel. Permanent deaths of main characters seldom appear as they are brought back to life one way or another. But for that moment, they are still considered dead. 5 Tyranto Rex, The Transcendent Key, Dustin Lübbers and 2 others reacted to this
Dagesh Lene 366 Posted June 28, 2018 So far, whenever people have asked Nomura about certain things that he can't talk about, that he doesn't want to reveal yet, or that would be a spoiler, Nomura has simply told them that he can't talk about it. At the most, he says something vague about it that gives us a hint at what's to come, but nothing more. So, I doubt that Nomura would keep everything else a secret while lying to us about the fate of Sora. 1 rhys0126 reacted to this
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted June 28, 2018 It would be interesting to see what direction the series would take if Sora were no longer among the living protagonists of the series! I'm sure a new cast of characters would be interesting, but this is Sora's story, and he will be the protagonist of the series until it ends, so I hope that Nomura hasn't changed his mind about that, because Sora is literally the poster boy for Kingdom Hearts as a whole! It'd be weird to not have him in KH! 1 rhys0126 reacted to this

Exactly it fits pretty well for kh that Marvel is no part of the lore because we have seen than no one really stays dead in this series. Just like in superhero storys every Character that is not of D list importance stays dead long and even than its not sure and nothing is to stupid to get this done and if its a clone from the dna from a piece of gum It would be interesting to see what direction the series would take if Sora were no longer among the living protagonists of the series! I will say it would be very interesti g for the plot to do this after all you cant simply say "its a disney story" when disney also pulls heavy punches and not EVERYTHING works out 100% fine. That being said it would be an awful decision for the reason that he and kairi never had the chance to express their true Feelings which has been set up so well now since game number one 2 rhys0126 and The Transcendent Key reacted to this

When it comes to Sora's growth and how his character will develop over time, we're going to be seeing how he develops in Kingdom Hearts III! I'm pretty sure it'll be mind blowing stuff! 1 rhys0126 reacted to this
rhys0126 82 Posted June 30, 2018 You guys all have really interesting ideas, and I kinda thought the same about how KH deaths are like Marvel deaths so it wouldn’t really matter either way if they died or not. I’ve always kind of wished KH could be a little bit more like Final Fantasy games in the death department, but I understand that Disney still has a lot of control over it and there could never be a truly DARK Kingdom Hearts game. That’s why I was kinda sad when FF Versus XIII was changed to FFXV, because it was marketed as a darker version of KH.
immortalfrieza 14 Posted June 30, 2018 I don't care much for Sora as a protagonist so if he left I'd be good with it, but I highly doubt they'd off him to do it, just have him retire or something. That said, if they do keep Sora as the protagonist past KH 3 it's going to quickly get ridiculous that they depower him for like the 25th time so he doesn't just effortlessly crush everything. Sora will also have to get some actual character development at some point. 1 rhys0126 reacted to this
