Tetsuya Nomura sheds light on The Caribbean's inclusion in Kingdom Hearts III

Recommended Posts

Thanks for sharing this with us, Raxaimus!

Oh, trust me, I am beyond happy that Pirates is returning to Kingdom Hearts III! I loved Port Royal in Kingdom Hearts II, as Pirates is one of my favorite film franchises, and ever since having played through Port Royal, I always wanted to see Jack and friends again in Kingdom Hearts III, and thankfully, Nomura decided to bring the world back in the form of the Caribbean! :D

His reasoning for choosing the story from At World's End is interesting and actually a pretty logical reason! I would have thought they'd go with Dead Man's Chest, but with how he explained about one film setting up the other, it does make sense that they decided to go with At World's End, because it would've been weird to have one of the arcs of the Xehanort Saga end at Dead Man's Chest! AND OMG, THE BATTLE WITH DAVY JONES!? HECK YEAH, WE'RE GONNA GET TO FIGHT HIM!

Seriously though, with ship battles being a thing, I cannot even begin to fathom how amazing the maelstrom battle will be in Kingdom Hearts III! :'D

Those were my thoughts exactly, actually. Unless 2nd visits are a thing in KH3 (which doesn't look likely), it wouldn't really make sense to have it follow Dead Man's Chest and then end it there. If the theme of the game is "resolution," At World's End makes perfect sense. Plus all the amazing battles and scenes happen in the 3rd movie anyways, so.

Also pls Papa Nomura, give us the Maelstrom fight! Port Royal in KH2 didn't do justice to the first film's plot, so I hope Square can redeem themselves there.

Peace!

Ever since they announced that Pirates of the Caribbean world was returning in KH3 I was so excited because it's one of my favorite worlds in KH2. His reasoning to do At World's End in KH3 instead of Dead Man's Chest does make sense because Pirates 2 was not only a middle chapter but also a set up for Pirates 3. Plus, KH3 is the end of the Xehanort Saga so doing At World's End makes sense to bring some cool dynamic actions. Plus, Nomura is right we don't see Davy Jones sword battle until At World's End, because in Dead Man's Chest Davy Jones was on his ship throughout the whole film and have no battle scene. But in At World's End we see Davy Jones in action during the battle scenes. I'm glad that we're going to fight Davy Jones as one of the bosses in The Caribbean so I can't wait to kick his sea butt! Also, I'm glad that KH3 will include a summary of the events of Dead Man's Chest and I'm excited that Davy Jones's Chest will be link to the Black Box that the villains are looking for. I can't wait to explore the sea. land, and air in The Caribbean on Jan 29, 2019!!!

I have never seen three. I was not the biggest fan of the second one and just kind of never got around to watching the third one, not to mention the fourth and fifth. So I guess I'll have to get around to it. So far it's the only movie revealed for KH3 that I have not seen so that's something to look forward to.

While I like the movie and I think that Nomura's logic is perfect, my own reasoning would be that introducing Keyblades to Dead Man's Chest would simply break the story. After all, the actions of the film are driven by a key and a chest.

I've seen plenty of fanfic writers struggle with this too.

Well if the worlds are going to be so big why not include all the movies?

Watch it At World's Ends is the best one.

i guess that reasoning is fair enough, also sounds like a good chance of a davy jones boss fight to me

i wonder what other live action films he considered

I feel like he considered the live action Alice in Wonderland. Cause he mentioned it before in an interview. I forgot exactly what he said but it was something along the lines of he wanted to try something like it? So it looks like he was considering some of the live action remakes!
