Hey I just got an idea. I think we should do some fun activities on this site you know like special events for certain stuff like Halloween, thanksgiving, christmas, 4th of July, etc. I mean look at Khinsider they do special events on special days instead of always posting KH stuff. it would make the site even more fun and would probably make this site a little more popular. So, what do you think of this idea?

well, we should probably have like some music that fits the activity that we are celbrating and some special effects on this site. I'll see if I can ask DChiuch about this if I ever get the chance to talk to him.

It's what you call "soft news", basically creating news for the sake of it. I think the news feed should remain solid and relevant, we shouldn't fill it with bullshit when there's a lack of material, but that isn't saying your idea isn't good.

 

When we redesign the website in November/December, the front page will have different "modules", where one of these could be competitions, or even themed competitions. In the meantime, of course, feel free to start these competitions in the creativity section on the forum! Anyone can do this.

 

Furthermore, background music and special effects are bad designs, but of course we could have these community competitions and maybe change the banner or something. However in November/December... my final exams for secondary school start tomorrow, so yeah, I'm sorta busy for the next couple weeks.

i dunno, by shop i'm guessing they mean more of a downloads page. for instance someone might have made a KH wallpaper and want to share it through the site. it could work, but again it's up to DC

If I understood that correctly, for wallpapers we have all the official wallpapers in the Gallery: http://kh13.com/zenphoto/wallpapers/

 

And if someone wanted to make a wallpaper for people to download. They could do that, just post a thread in Images about it.

If I understood that correctly, for wallpapers we have all the official wallpapers in the Gallery: http://kh13.com/zenphoto/wallpapers/

 

but for user-made icons, avatars, wallpapers, and screensavers relating to KH.

 

just putting them on the images forum isn't really making it avaliable to people properly

Again, when we redesign we hope to make like a member images gallery, and also a member video portal.

 

So in the members gallery, you can upload your own images-whatever you want. And everyone else can see them, rate and comment. Same as the video portal.

Eh yeah but Aaron that'll be a while down the track... I mean, we've already purchased the forum software, but we have a lot to do. Gonna make a list cause I'm bored.

 

[x] Purchase new forum software.

[ ] Redesign forum to new design, including all forum aspects, new header, footer, etc.

[ ] Reconfigure chat to work with new forum.

[ ] Work out how to integrate the new software with the rest of the website.

[ ] Make a general design for pages with a "left-hand column", such as Games, Videos, Media, etc.

 

At this stage we can probably switch over to the new site, and keep changing things while everyone uses it.

 

[ ] Get some software which makes it easy to edit Games, Media, something like a Wiki or Wordpress which allows us to have a "content team", a group of people which can edit the site and see changes immediately (like our current projects but better).

[ ] Write software to make the video pages automatically generate from databases, this will make it so much easier to add new videos and allow features such as "related videos" and maybe even comments, etc. Also a "recently added videos" module on the main page.

[ ] Reconsider the gallery software, possibly redesign, and if our current software doesn't allow for it, find one that supports "recently added images".

[ ] Reconsider the news software, currently we have to add it to both the forum and homepage separately, so probably find something that allows forum comments yet is a single thing.

[ ] Lastly redesign the front page so we have different modules. "News" of course, and then "Recently added videos/images" which is automatically generated, and possibly some other community stuff.

that sounds awesome DC, i am interested to see how the new forum would work, but would it like transfer all the old posts to the new forum or would it just be a blank canvas? and about the new site, will we all have to make new profiles and stuff like that? while were talking about the site, how do you put a little title below your username? i still havent figured that out. =)

Pretty positive all the posts and threads will be carried over to the new forum layout. The titles under the usernames are Custom User Titles which were given out to contributors (not the user group I'm speaking of, but people who help in general or show great character)of the forum. We are making this available to everyone soon I believe.
