Tails 6,692 Posted May 22, 2018 John Kodera: “(The PlayStation 4 is) Finally entering the final phase of its console life cycle.” So it seems that the PS4 is in its final years before Sony moves on to the PS5 according to the CEO of the company. I guess this means that we might see the PS5 be revealed in 2020 or somewhere around there. And with this news I am getting more and more convinced that FF7 remake will be a PS5 game instead of the PS4 just like what happened with Versus XIII/FF15 when it was originally going to be on PS3. Tails 6,692 Posted May 22, 2018 Already? It seems a little too fast The gen of consoles is going by fast for whatever reason. First the Wii U had a short life cycle (although it was very reasonable) and now supposedly the same thing seems to be happening with the PS4. Only it's not because of it doing bad or anything. This is making me remind the times back when SEGA was making consoles only to quickly move onto the next big thing before their previous console could reach its full potential. That's kind of how I am feeling about this generation with the PS4 right now. 2 Iamkingdomhearts1000 and 2 quid is good reacted to this
Jeeg robot 97 15 Posted May 22, 2018 Already? It seems a little too fast I agree. PS4 still has more cards to play. It's too early for a Ps5 according to me. 1 Iamkingdomhearts1000 reacted to this

In all seriousness though Im truly surprised the Ps4 is ending already. 2 Kingdomhe and 2 quid is good reacted to this

Awesome Sauce 634 Posted May 22, 2018 Every 7 years there will be a new generation. But it's only been what, 4-5 years since it's initial release? PS3 lasted longer.. 1 Tails reacted to this
KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted May 22, 2018 And to think I have had a PS4 for just a year. Maybe KH3 will force it to live longer? 1 Exiblade7 reacted to this
Dustin Lübbers 933 Posted May 22, 2018 Already? It seems a little too fast Whatever comes after the PS4 I think It will be the last or the second last console ever to come out since we are slowly reaching the maximum technical possibilities.Atleast concerning graphics so afterwards its only about the largeness of the worlds

Tails 6,692 Posted May 22, 2018 But it's only been what, 4-5 years since it's initial release? PS3 lasted longer.. Yeah. Which is why I find it to be surprising how short the PS4's life span was this gen. The only reason the Wii U's lifecycle was so short was because of it's failure.Otherwise it would've lasted for at least 2019 Yeah I know. Which is why I said it was reasonable. The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted May 23, 2018 (edited) Huh, so the PS4 is nearing the end of its life cycle, with only five years on the market? Well that's interesting! But I don't think the PS5 will be announced and released just yet! I think that after two or three more years, we shall be getting the PS5. Because if you've noticed, the PS consoles have had a lifespan of more or less ten years! The PS2 came out in 2002, and games stopped being made for the console around 2012 or 13, or perhaps a bit later, the system having passed the ten year mark of its lifespan. The PS3 came out in 2006 and lasted all the way to 2016, and the PS4 came out in 2013, so it should reach the official end of its lifespan by 2023, or perhaps maybe one or two years earlier than that, ya know? It just all depends on how strong the library of games keeps the system alive and keeps people investing in it, ya know? And this is something I find curious! Kingdom Hearts II released for the PS2 when that console was nearing the end of its lifespan, so the PS4 now entering this same situation makes it kinda nostalgic, to think that KHIII will be one of the last titles to release for the system, ya know? Yeah, I'm expecting the PS4's life span to end in about two or three years down the road. Than we'll likely see the PS5. Also, I didn't know that little fact about KH2's release. That's pretty interesting. 2 Iamkingdomhearts1000 and The Transcendent Key reacted to this
Kingdomhe 1,362 Posted May 23, 2018 KH3 was shown when the console was reviled and it's releasing during its final year(s) OMEGALUL! That's life tho I was going to get ps pro for KH3 for better fps. but after hearing this, I'm just going to deal with it and pray the ps5 has cross compatibility with the ps4. TheKeyofRose 282 Posted May 23, 2018 That's surprising a tad bit early were still a year or 2 off. I suppose the winning horse wants to put the crown down and move onto to number 5.

And yep, it's a pretty interesting factoid, and now KHIII is to release just when the PS4 is about to end its lifespan! I say its pretty dang poetic! Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted May 27, 2018 I think that this makes sense. If it's in the final years of its life it might be a while before the PS5 is even announced, and if that's the case we'll probably have the PS4 for another 3 or so years. It seems early because they're talking about the next gen console, but in actuality the next gen hasn't even been announced yet, and even they're saying we're still a ways off. To be honest, though, I always feel the life span of video game consoles is too short, probably because I always wait till the end of a console's life cycle before buying them. Svard 164 Posted May 27, 2018 (edited) https://www.gamespot.com/articles/ps5-still-three-years-away-says-playstation-boss/1100-6459155/ I'm not sure the whole lifespan thing means what everyone things it means. No surprise though, since Sony seemed rather vague on the topic. A system's lifespan ending, in this case, doesn't mean games will stop releasing it, or that Sony will stop supporting it. I think for Sony, it means two things: 1) The PS4, has reached it's mid-life, which means that sales will continue to decline at this point, and 2) Sony needs to shift internal focus toward developing a new console, which, according to the above article, is still about three years away. Makes sense, considering Sony has gone with seven years between new generations, vs Nintendo's rather rapid 5-year approach. Either way, seems like a lot of people were falling into the whole doom-and-gloom trap, where they thought that the PS4 would be ending production soon - it's not. It's just that the PS4 has already reached its climax, and is now on a downhill slope until it reaches its denouement. In the past, even with Sony having released new gen consoles, they still supported their last gen consoles for about four years more before officially discontinuing production on them, ya know? But yeah, I think that the PS5 could be eventually announced for 2020! Edited May 29, 2018 by The Transcendent Key

But if they have to make FF7 Remake for the PS4 than they have to scratch everything and begin from the start again like Final Fantasy Versus XIII. They will stillkeep the Original concepts around but yeah the ''2023'' joke seems now to become real.

Yup, especially now that it's been confirmed that Square-Enix got rid of CC2's development on the game and are now starting over completely from scratch. So I am more than positive that FF7 Remake will be on PS5. But who knows, maybe t will be on both the PS4 and PS5 by the time development on the game is done.
