KH3 should go all in with Xehanort and Eraqus's past

Considering this is the finale of the Xehanort saga, i am REALLY hoping we get an in depth look at Eraqus and Xehanort's past. And its pretty obvious that'll be the case due to what the E3 2015 trailer showed us. Although, here's an idea of how it should go down. 2 things actually. Firstly, i think it would be wise to make another varatation of the "Ansem reports" again in this installment. What would they be about? Well, we already got Xehanort reports so im thinking "Eraqus Reports" would be the most likely candidate. We could get a good look at Xehanort and Eraqus's relationship through these and Eraqus's life as well because i feel like Eraqus has not gotten the right amount of spotlight as he should. And the second thing, making Young Eraqus (and also young Xehanort) playable through Flashbacks. I personally believe the 2nd playable character will be Young Eraqus simply due to his lack of the spotlight. Also, explaining the 2 masters pasts through playable sections to me sounds like the best method of getting to know these characters. The way it'll work will be similar to Dream Drop Distances method of explains whats going on in the real world. Once you completed a world, the game gives you a cutscene that shows whats currently going on with Mickey and co. However, in KH3's case it'll be more like Yakuza Kiwami where it serves as flashbacks. Only this time, its playable through Eraqus like Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. What do you think though? Do you agree with this method of explaining the pas of Xehanort?

I think they were referring the second playable as Riku.

Daaang, that'd be so insanely badass! I am also on the camp of people that really wanna see more backstory between Xehanort and Eraqus. I want to see how the two egged each other on and became friends and fought for their dreams! The idea you suggested is a perfect way to give insight into their pasts, and bringing in Eraqus Reports could give us a new point of view on Xehanort! And playable flashbacks are a must! I believe the flashbacks should be very important to the main story, because as you said, this is the final entry in the Xehanort Saga, so here's hoping that this happens! What a great idea!

Square never confirmed that Riku was the playable character. However, not saying its out of the question.

It would be really cool if Eraqus was playable, and I think flashbacks would be an interesting way to incorporate that. Kind of like in FFVIII where you played as Laguna Loire in flashbacks. I also love the idea of "Eraqus reports"; I think that would add an interesting element. Whatever the case may be, I imagine we'll get at least some backstory about Xehanort and Eraqus' past, since they showed that clip of the two of them playingat the beginning of the trailer. And Drake Bell confirmed that he's voicing young Eraqus, which confirms that young Eraqus will be playing some kind of role in KHIII.

But they had their opportunity to reveal Riku as playable character when his new outfit was revealed, I see no reason why they would wait any longer with this announcement.

Actually, yes and here's why. We already know the game will start in an unexpected or unorthodox time right? E3 2015 we see a cutscene of the two of them playing chess and we learn that the game will open to Eraqus and Xehanort in their youth. Nomura also told us that there is more to that conversation and it is longer. With all this said, they should emphasize and expand on their past together at the Land of Departure and their time there. It would help us understand how and why Master Xehanort obtained No Name, how he learned of the lost masters (Foretellers) and so many more questions. It would be great content, it would enrich the story even further, it would help connect dots, and it would make KH3 truly the GOAT (greatest of all time). So if they are to open up KH3 with Eraqus and Xehanort in their youth, dive right in completely in showing their past. It would make sense and help the story.
