So, I'm assuming Doug & Rob didn't quit CA, considering that Starship Troopers is more of the same NC we've been getting for the last 2 years. I don't hate it, but I do hate that it's under the CA banner. Also, they released another Top 5 video on Monday, so I'm assuming they're trying to quietly sidestep the issue because their "response" was something they thought was sufficient. I mean, I'm glad they're not making things worse, but this issue isn't gonna go away.

Every second they spend still under Channel Awesome is making their situation worse. They are still bleeding subscribers and their view count is dropping again. It seems that Doug is still with CHannel Awesome, but I'm still not sure about Rob. The fact that he deleted his Facebook page, and the fact that he posted a picture of a burning tree from a certain recent blockbuster film moments before deleting the page is very telling in my opinion. It seems like he's dropped into incognito mode.

Now that being said, it could be that Tuesday's episode was the final NC they were able to post if Doug actually did quit. I don't think we'll know for sure whether he's still there for another few weeks or so. But if Doug and Rob want to come out of this looking even half decent, they need to respond themselves and they need to do it fast.

I mean, Rob seems to have more business sense than Doug, hence why he was more involved with the company than Doug. He's one of the writers & actors of the NC & is still credited in the into, so, unless it's a legacy credit, I'm doubting he's really left. Doug too. We'll see, but I don't hold too much hope.

I know what you mean. But I just can't help but cling to my last shred of hope. I loved those guys and what they did for content creation; I hate that they're proving to be a couple of insensitive, selfish jerks.

I get what you're saying, but here's the thing. Doug's personality leads me to think he's ok working for a company run by an inconsiderate, petty douche rather than actually do the right thing. Rob seems more considerate than Doug, but considering he's a big part of said company, he will probably stick with them in some capacity. He's already gone into lockdown mode on social media, so he doesn't want any of the heat on him. Fair enough, since he isn't as much to blame for things as Mike & Doug, but he still has some stuff to answer to.

Doug. Have you actually analyzed the Nostalgia Critic in recent years? Basically, Doug uses the NC as a mouthpiece for his own personal pinions. Sometimes it's fine, but other times, he has things that, honestly come off as condescending or rehash what he's already done as the NC. What I'm talking about is the Hocus Pocus parody. It's not a review no matter what you tell me. It rehashes the "guilty pleasure" message of the Moulin Rouge review in lesser quality.

Then there's him telling people, "Frozen's good, understand that" in an editorial talking about hype backlash, which isn't actually what he's talking about because he got it confused with another, similar, trope, not even trying to understand why people actually hate Frozen. Hype may be part of it for some, but there's legitimate reasons to hate the film. By the way, I find it oddly hypocritical that he loves Frozen, yet doesn't really like the Lion King, since they're, basically, the same movie. He even backs up this belief in one of the vlogs that that's his personal belief of why people don't like that film.

Then there's the video on whitewashing which was VERY terrible in getting you to understand what he was trying to say. He clearly didn't really research or think through the issue, or the things he wanted to talk about in that video, so it's a waste of time.

I don't hate Doug & I want him to come out of this ahead, but I don't think Doug has the necessary self-awareness to do the right thing here, especially since he doesn't apparently like the business angle of it.

There have definitely been times when I felt like Doug was jamming his opinion down people's throats. I have noticed that his talk about Frozen isn't saying "I personally love Frozen, but I get why some people don't like it." It's usually more along the lines of "Frozen is an excellent film and if you don't agree then you're wrong" which is so not what a reviewer should be doing. I personally did not like Frozen. Everything he loved I had major issues with. But that's fine; we're all different and we all love different things.

I also agree with the Hocus Pocus "review" not even being a review in the slightest sense of the word. It's just him recreating the film and mocking it in the absolute worst way possible. I do love Doug, but there are definitely things that I don't like about the way he does his show. Honestly, my interest in NC dropped when they started releasing the clipless reviews. I hate those bloody things; they are not reviews, they are sketches. And they're not even funny sketches (not to me, anyway). So maybe you're right. Maybe Doug isn't this great guy everybody has built him up to be. When I read through the Google Document, I developed the impression that the problem with Doug was mainly ignorance. The ex-producers all seemed to agree that DOug didn't really seem to know what was going on company-wise andyet he was involved in major company decision making. Like firing Holly, in which he was the deciding vote. That is just awful.

Yeah. You ever hear the adage of a person playing a certain character for so long that parts of that character's personality becomes part fo that person's in real life? I believe that this slowly happened to Doug over the last 11 years as the NC. Doug carries himself as this good guy who's understanding of other people's thoughts on something. For the most part, I think he does it well, but there are moments where he's oddly hypocritical about some things. Oh, he doesn't likely Pokemon because it was everywhere while he was in college, or over-hyped as it were? That's the same thing as Frozen's hype being through the roof turning people off from it. Personally, I think if Frozen came out in the 90s during the Disney Renaissance, it'd be remembered like Little Mermaid or one of the later films of that era as not bad, but not amazing either. Also, he likes Transformers & TMNT, 2 franchises that ran on merchandising like Pokemon, so it's even more hypocritical that he hates Pokemon for reasons he likes those 2. It's the ultimate in arrogance.

The clipless reviews, I think could've worked if maybe they were just editorials or vlogs as the NC like what he did for Transformers 5 with predicting pretty much everything in it based on how predictable Michael Bay is with having those films written & directed. But doing the clipless reviews proper broke one of the cardinal rules of the NC he himself set up in the The Review Must Go On video where he said himself that he wouldn't review anything currently in theaters. I wouldn't even mind if he re-edited those reviews to have some of the sketches, but replace most of them with actual clips from the movie. There's actually a fan that went ahead & did just that & it worked a lot better. Hocus Pocus was just an unfunny sketch that wasn't even worth watching. It was made at a time when they were dealing with copyright problems during 2015. Problem is that it was a 22-year-old movie at the time, so I don't think Disney would've had many problems with them reviewing it. I'm glad that he's relegated the clipless reviews to only the Star Wars reviews, since they really aren't that good.

And, yeah, Doug's ultimate problem seems to be his arrogance, callousness, & willful ignorance. He's a hypocrite, an idiot, a douche, all under the guise of being a nice person, which I bet he is, but the other stuff outweighs that at times. Still, he's no Mike Michaud. THAT dude's just a bad person.

Exactly. ON the surface, he seems like a very nice person. And maybe he actually is. But an opinion is supposed to be just that; an opinion. Therefore, there is no right or wrong opinion. But that doesn't seem to be how DOug sees it. There have been several points where he's actually said he's boggled by the fact that people like certain stuff. ANd that's fine. There have been instances wherein I just couldn't understand people's love of something, but I at least respect that they love it even if I don't understand why. But DOug is just so condescending about it.

Yep. I mean, I at least ask that people understand the other side, since you don't really have to agree with the other side. I mean, I understand not liking something because it's just plain bad, but if there are legitimate good things about it, I think there should be props given to it. Like, I don't think I could watch much G1 Transformers or TMNT, mostly because I'm used to a higher quality of writing in my cartoons, specifically the ones from the 2000s when I grew up (I also can't stand when 90s kids say they have the best kid's cartoons, since I think my generation reaped the benefits of what they got, since we had a bigger amount of kid's shows that were more mature in their writing than them. I mean, hell, a 90s kid I saw online legit tried to say Avatar was made for his generation, when that's not even remotely true), but I'm not gonna say they're not worth watching if you legitimately like watching them. I mean, those shows laid the groundwork for later, better, show incarnations of their respective franchises. It's only once in a while where a legitimately bad incarnation of a franchise comes out that I'll agree that it's bad. like Teen Titans Go being a terrible reboot of the original show from over a decade ago. I don't know, the hypocrisy of it is what sickens me because with hypocrisy, there's no consistency about the logic used.

I found an interesting video just uploaded today & it's interesting how this guy applies his own experiences & thoughts to the topic of the CA fallout.

Also, based on the Tamara's Never Seen on TMNT III, it's quite obvious that Doug & Rob are still working for CA, since it was shot at their studio & they were in it.

Never watched the whitewashing video. I just kinda knew it was gonna be bad.

The whole Frozen stuff with him got on my nerves quite a bit at times. Sure, "over-hype" might not have helped, but there are legit reasons to not like the film. It's not a perfect movie and people can criticize it all they want. And yeah, you would think he would understand people sense he does not like The Lion King much and he considers it overhyped. So people can't feel that way about Frozen? And I did not watch the video were he talked about the Frozen short over Coco, but I felt like it was just gonna be him trying to defend it when it was obviously supposed to be a TV special.

Did he talk about the short? I was talking about one of the Adventure Time vlogs, I'm pretty sure. I think it was either that, or one of the Legend of Korra vlogs, or it might've been one of the 'Real Thoughts' videos, I forget which one exactly. I don't even think he talked about the short at all, has he? In any case, I think you get my point here.

Yeah, it's oddly hypocritical of him not to understand when people say something's overhyped. I can understand not liking obviously terrible movies (I don't think anyone's singing the praises of Garbage Pail Kids ever), or liking obviously good movies, but not getting that others may nt feel the same is completely boneheaded on his part.

Yeah, after his review of Coco he did a video on the Frozen short.

He also doesn't really seem to like much of the newer Disney movies other than Frozen either, cause I don't know, none of them reach to Frozen's standards I guess?

I've noticed his aversion to the new Disney movies. The one that had me scratching my head was his response to Tangled, because it honestly seemed like he was just grasping at straws in terms of things to dislike about it. He had issues with the celebrity voices. What Disney movie doesn't have celebrity voices??? It just seemed like he was determined not to love the movie for some reason.

It's like, I can understand when he makes fun of a film, or complains about one, that has a very mixed, polarizing, or negative reception & can be seen as legitimately bad, or if he legit doesn't like a film that's seen as good by most people, but if he can't acknowledge when a film he likes can be seen as not that great, or worse, that's when it crosses over into hypocritical territory. It's like, he says, "Lion King was overhyped (I can actually see this one, but it's still a good film), Tarzan's a bad film for being boring & not a proper musical (I disagree, but his decision on that seems to be influenced by an unexplained hatred of Phil Collins), & Toy Story 3's ending is stupid," but the second someone even suggests Frozen isn't good, it's like, "oh no, the songs fit the mood of the scenes & advance the plot, the characters are good, & [insert 3rd thing here because I can't be bothered to think of another one], it's not overhyped or bad." You can fire back with "But, you, literally, called the Lion King overhyped & Frozen copied a lot of its homework," but he won't listen. Doug has the personality type of a hypocrite. Like, I don't like first person shooter games that much (that's partly why I'm on a forum for KH), but I'm not gonna tell people who DO like them to not play them because of my reasons.
