rho 9 Posted October 24, 2010 Boy do I have a bunch... Elementary- Only one I can remember offhand is how in 1st Grade they thought that banning candy on school grounds was something that could actually happen. I remember them having an assembly the day before halloween where the principal came out and said "YOU MAY ONLY BRING ONE PIECE OF YOUR HALLOWEEN CANDY TO SCHOOL." It was, as you could expect, a huge failure, and they probably just gave up on it entirely. Middle School- Here's the big part. -If you were using any kind of ball during break, you could NOT kick it. There was one point where some asshead decided to keep throwing a basketball at me, I got fed up with it so I kicked it away, and I almost got freakin' suspended for it until I managed to bring some logic into the barely-existent brain of the principal. I was being assaulted and I was ending it in a peaceful matter. -Running on campus wasn't allowed. Seriously. -This is appropriate to mention right after the last one. If you were late to school, even by a minute, three times, you got detention. So if I got there 30 seconds-1 minute late three times, even weeks apart, I got detention. Sometimes I decided to just not go. -During Lunch, you could only stay at ONE table. Once you got to a table, you had to wait 15 minutes before going anywhere. -There were only certain areas where you could go. There was a large field with a "track" around it. You could walk all around the track, but the back end of the field was completely off limits. How the hell does that make sense? -Glass containers, permanent markers, and white-out were all banned. Glass containers I can understand. Permanent markers, seems a bit much to ban them. WHITE-OUT? Seriously? -The ONLY physical contact you could make with another student = hugs and hand-holding. I remember hearing that one guy almost got expelled because him and his girlfriend kissed during break one time. I got scolded for giving someone a high five once. Seriously. I wish I was making this up. -Skirts that were shorter than the end of your middle finger when you place your arm directly down were banned. A semi-friend of mine then got sent home because she wore a short skirt... OVER A PAIR OF JEANS. It was some kind of "wacky dress-up day" or some crap like that. What is wrong with that? I swear to god, that principal was a communist.. -In order to carry a cell phone on campus, you needed to fill out paperwork at the office and have a permission slip on file. And they could NEVER be on. Not even during breaks. -"Serious Misbehavior" included disrespecting an adult, swearing, and name-calling. These are listed with acts such as sexual harassment, possession of a dangerous item, and coming to school drunk or high. I shit you not. -They claimed that 3 suspensions in a school year = expulsion. I got suspended about 5-7 times in 8th Grade. (along with about 10 detentions and probably 35 notes home) Never expelled. -Chewing gum = banned. Completely. They didn't even make that clear. I got detention just because I was chewing some during break once and was unaware of the ban. -You and your parents had to complete some ridiculous amount of community service in order to pass. -There was a snack bar there. IIRC it was alright. Better than the one I have now, I'd say. EXTREMELY STUPID RULE COMING. You weren't allowed to buy something for a friend. THAT MAKES NO SENSE. Why couldn't I buy a 50 cent bag of chips for a friend? What's the harm in that? -There was this large ditch that would fill with water whenever it rained. It was right near a bunch of small rocks, the biggest ones maybe being an inch long. You were strictly forbidden to come within about 5 feet of the "puddle", and they took it seriously if you threw rocks in there. My god. -If you didn't feel well, and you went to the nurse's office, they'd stick some crappy thermometer-type thing in your mouth that was always incredibly inaccurate, and unless it read a high temperature, they made you go back to class. Even if you threw up. Same in elementary. Thankfully High School is smart enough to just have you call home, have the nurse speak to the parent, have you sign out, give you a pass to leave, and have nothing else to do with it. -Until you reached your home, you were considered to still be on campus and were expected to follow all school rules. So if you went to the park with your friends after school, you still had to follow all the moronic rules. -Hats weren't allowed to be worn in class. I think they were okay outside, though. -APPARENTLY, soda wasn't allowed. I saw nothing in the school rules, but at one point one day during lunch I had a can of soda and the vice principal or whoever came up to me and told me I wasn't allowed to have soda at school. I explained to her that that's never been stated before, she told me to throw it away. I didn't. -Cameras weren't allowed for perhaps one of the stupidest and strangest reasons ever.. they said that you could cause serious injury to someone because they could fall over due to the camera flash and hurt themselves, or you'd run into someone. What. the. hell. High school- ...I... can't think of any rules I've been made aware of that are weird/stupid. ....Wow.
FireStorm 162 23 Posted October 24, 2010 LOL i only have four of those rules. The whole being late idea, we have if you are late by more then 10 minutes 3 times in a fortnight. We can't wear hats in class as well We can't have chewing gum, but the teachers are fine with people chewing gum, as long as it's not in class. Phones can't be turned on, and if a phone rings during class, the teacher tells the student to turn it off quickly, and then the teacher looks around like they don't want the principal to see the student with the phone, but there's no camera's.... WTF!!!!! Yeah, that's the only stupid rules we had, so lol at your school
heartless101 83 Posted October 24, 2010 Here's two stupid rules for me: You can't wear hats in class You can't wear hoods in class For Outdoor Ed this past week this was a stupid rule: If you don't flush the toilets, they will make your parents pick you up from the place, and the school would consider EXPELLING you
Godot 513 Posted October 24, 2010 -My school has two floors (fifth and sixth grade on the 1st, seventh and eigth on the 2nd) and there are only two stairwells. If an eighth grader goes anywhere NEAR the main stairway (the biggest one--there's more than enough room for both grades to go down at one time) they're pretty much asking for a detention. -We aren't allowed to bring WATER BOTTLES or any other type of container, because they're afraid we're going to bring alcohol (though, one girl did actually bring vodka last year, so I guess it's not that much of a stretch.) -If you're a minute late to gym class, prepare to spend about 15 minutes being screamed at. -Another thing about gym class: if you're absent for any reason (skipping, at a dentist appointment, puking your guts out, dying) the gym teachers actually give you a 0 for class that day. So, if you're home sick for a week, you're almost guaranteed to fail gym. I mean, WTF? -Shorts/skirts/etc. have to go down past your knees in order to be considered "school appropriate". -Flip-flops were banned for being "dangerous". -There's cameras set up...facing in the bathrooms. The school says it's supposed to prevent "vandalism". Yeah, sure.
Eterna 274 Posted October 24, 2010 I wasn't allowed to hold hands with my boyfriend. I did anyhow, because I'm a rebel at heart.
Anti-SOLDIER 68 Posted October 24, 2010 Wow, your life at school is horrible, Ryo. O_o My High School is awesome. - They let you have cell phones but you can only use it during breaks - Chewing gum is allowed in class - Water is the only thing allowed. Unless you bought one of those Power-aid or Minute Maid drinks from those $1.00 machines - Sometimes, you can listen to your ipod during class - There's no restriction where you can go during lunch time - They give you back your cell phones back if the teacher takes it away from you during class - No limit on using the bathroom - Music is played before the bells rings to your next class and everyday during lunch I think thats all the good things. Bad things about it is: - Food and candy isn't allowed during class. Only during breaks. - You can't leave school grounds during lunch time - There are a lot of walkouts. There's been 2 already in the first 8 weeks of school. - They changed the schedule this year. It used to be like go to school every day (even on weekends) for 3 weeks, and then have a 2 week break. - School used to have late Mondays. When school starts 30m later then usual only on Mondays. - School is a hour longer this year - Some teachers have a bad way of teaching - Not hats or hoodies in class I think thats all the bad stuff. Think Pink 1,967 Posted October 24, 2010 Ketchup was banned because it "is the color of blood, and therefore violent."
Omerta 0 Posted October 24, 2010 If i leave the school building, even take one step out, I can't go back in. One time, during lunch My dad brought me lunch money, and he was waiting in the parking lot, and i told the lunch patrol that I was going to go get it from him, and she said it was okay, then when I tried to come back in, THE SAME PATROL told me that I couldn't come back in once I left, and she locked the doors. I was later suspended for skipping school. /fail
rho 9 Posted October 24, 2010 Quote -There's cameras set up...facing in the bathrooms. The school says it's supposed to prevent "vandalism". Yeah, sure. ....There is NO WAY IN HELL that is legal. Quote You can't wear hoods in class The teacher in my science class in 9th Grade banned hoods in class (in his class rules, he said "students may were hats but not hoods". seriously) because he also didn't allow iPods unless it was after you turned in a test because he thought kids would somehow get test answers onto their iPod and listen to them while they took a test. aubreyloveskh 16 Posted October 24, 2010 I can't wear hats, hoods, or bandanas at all. Technically your supposed to leave hats in your lockers, but most teachers dont care as long as your not wearing them. However, there is one teacher who literally has chased kids down the hall for carrying their hats. We have a bakery and a cafe in my school (I go to a technical high school and we have a culinary class) but students aren't allowed to buy anything from them. In middle school I couldn't wear flip flops because they were a "safety hazard" and if I was late to math 3 times throughout the whole year, even by just a second I would get a detention. Koko 3,944 Posted October 24, 2010 My highschool makes up for all the dumbass rules we had in middle school. In middle school we had uniforms, and if they were a just a shade lighter or darker than the school colors (orange basically), you were forced to call your parents to bring you another shirt. Yeah. And other shizz.

Egotistic Delirium+ 0 Posted February 12, 2011 Well... Primary School: I couldn't remember any stupid rules during elementary school. High School: - You're required to wear school socks at designated days of the week. Usually every day. - Girls are required to wear either a headband, a ponytail or a hairclip in school grounds and boys cut are not allowed for girls. - Boys were not allowed to have hair longer than the two by three cut. - All high school and elementary school students were not allowed to leave the school during class hours. College: None of the rules here tick me off. I can follow them because it's generally just a free system here in AMACC.
Macroxen 32 Posted February 15, 2011 wow, my school was pretty chill, never had any of those gay rules, just dont piss off the teachers and your good. ^^ well, now im home schooled and dont have to deal with shit rules. :'P
Yuzuki 30 Posted March 4, 2011 THAT is the worst school rules I've ever heard. Though the Hat thing is a tad bit more understandable. I have the luxuries of Homeschool and my mom isn't strict. So... 1. I can sleep in. 2. I can do my school on the roof. (or anywhere for that matter.) 3. I can listen to music while doing school as long as I'm actually working. 4. I don't have to ask to go to the bathroom. 5. I can have lunch whenever I please, even if I'm in the middle of a subject. 6. I can have a snack while I'm working. (I can also chew gum) 7. I don't have any specific time that I have to be done with my schoolwork. But she usually gets mad if I'm still doing it after 3 or 4. 8. I can get off of school a few days before a vacation just for packing. The only thing she really tells me to do is: 1. Make sure you get done with you schoolwork. 2. Only use pencils. No pens. Because we don't want to use up the white-out. And those 2 are pretty reasonable.
Sora'sMum 352 Posted March 8, 2011 My school's rules, hmmm, some are bad but I've learnt to live with them. 1. We have a school uniform. Summer is blue short-sleeved shirt, navy pants/shorts, certain socks depending on the pants. Winter is long-sleeved shirt with a tie, blazer, pants. Also, a belt must always be worn with pants, shirt always tucked in, black school shoes, spray jacket only when it rains. Most schools where I live have uniforms so it is normal, but my school has to dress more formal because it is a private Catholic school. 2. Hair can't touch your collar at the back or go over your eyes. If it's too short they make you wear a stupid school cap. 3. No chewing gum (but everyone still does) 4. Phones must be in your locker all day. Some people still carry it with them, but if you get caught you get a detention. 5. Lunchtime detentions for disturbing class; after school detention for not doing hw all the the time, being rude to teacher, etc; Saturday morning detention for worse stuff; suspension for getting in a fight, etc. 6: All school rules, including uniform requirements apply before and after school until you get home. So even for me when I'm catching the train home I still have to my shirt tucked in, top button done up, it sucks. They even send teachers to the train station and give you detentions if you're caught! 7: There's more but if cbf listing them. So my school has a lot of rules but it is still a good school with good teachers, good environment, etc.

P50L 610 Posted May 8, 2011 LOL! Your schools seemed to be super strict, all we had was the little rules in elementary and middle school such as, dont be late, dont bring electronics EVEN CELLPHONES, no fighting, cursing, and no vandilsim but for high school they added a new rule such as NO DRUGS (which i have no problem with)
Rizzyy 736 Posted May 10, 2011 Here's a really stupid rule we can use ipods but not cell fone so if u have ur music on ur fone u cant use it!
FlipMode 141 Posted May 10, 2011 At College, we have only one door entrance and it is at the front of the College, you have to walk all the way around to the front entrance, and then all the way around the outside of it to get to the back from inside it (to be fair it never used to be like this, it got broken into apparently and they are looking for ways to enhance security) but it has been that way for about 2 months or so now...
