Some older games on the list, but as far as what I can think recently, I think 2017 will be remembered as one of the best years gaming has ever had. Persona 5, Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey, and Nier Automata were all phenomenal and are all still talked about constantly, and it's been about a year since a few of those have been released. The Last of Us and Dark Souls will definitely endure, especially Dark Souls. TLoU was a huge game for storytelling, and I think it secured its place in gaming history. Dark Souls practically launched its own revolution, it is pretty widely known as the definitive game for high difficulty gameplay. I think League will lose its footing in game history, Starcraft was the biggest e-Sport game for a long time and hardly anyone talks about it anymore. League is already on the decline so I don't think it'll be talked about much in 10 years or less. GTAV was a solid entry in a big series, so I don't really think GTAV specifically will hold up in time, the same way no one really plays the older GTA games much anymore, but as a series GTA will still be talked about forever. Minecraft will always be talked about as the most successful indie game of all time and a huge part of gaming in the last several years, but it's already lost most of its popularity aside from a younger audience and people who have been playing it for years already and still play it. I don't really see Minecraft drawing in new fans much at this point, pretty much everyone knows about it or has played it. Some of the other games are still talked about and everyone knows they're great games, but I don't think they have the same staying power as the others I mentioned. Of everything on the list, I think BotW and Dark Souls will endure the most. BotW because it's a big shift for one of the most popular series ever, and Dark Souls because it still seems like we can't get away from games constantly being compared to Dark Souls. Dark Souls' difficulty is still used as a baseline to compare against other games' difficulties, critics & people just talking about hard games still often say "It's like Dark Souls". It's annoying to hear at this point and often a stupid way of explaining how hard a game is, but I think that still shows how big of a stamp the series has put on gaming.

And one more very recent example, Monster Hunter World. Monster Hunter has been around since 2004, but it's only getting more and more popular. Its popularity has slowly been gaining ground over the years in the West, but it's always been a phenomenon in Japan. With World it's finally broken into being hugely popular in the West and is only going to get more popular. YouTube is littered with videos drooling all over the game, everyone who picks it up seems to love it, even people who weren't big fans of previous MH games. It really is a brilliant game. So seeing how long Monster Hunter has endured, and how huge of a turning point World is for the series for its gameplay and its popularity, I wouldn't be surprised if World ends up getting recognized by many people as one of the best games of this generation. It's definitely in my top 5 games of this generation so far.

Someone made the argument to me that Bioshock was one of the signs of games becoming art and not just entertainment, and I think that holds true. It's worth studying for the political, ethical, and philosophical themes it puts forward, perhaps being even more relevant now that select groups of people are starting to think that Ayn Rand was onto something.

Kingdom Hearts III.

No, I'm being serious. Hey, you didn't specify if it had to be a modern game that hadn't released yet, eh?

But seriously though, Kingdom Hearts II has been the most talked about entry in the series, and to this day, the community holds that entry in the series in high regard, and it speaks to how well the game has aged. But I believe that Kingdom Hearts III is going to be a game that'll be talked about for years and years to come! It's probably Nomura's most ambitious game yet, and he, along with his team, are pouring their hearts and souls into making this game the best one in the series yet! And with the production values and the gameplay and the story going behind it, I'm sure it's going to become a staple in gaming that'll definitely stand the test of time like Kingdom Hearts II has!

I also have to agree on Dark Souls! I've only played and beaten the first one, (Because I've yet to play the other two entries.) but I loved it to death, and I could see why people had been talking about the game so much! It's definitely an interesting existence in gaming!

Bioshock and Dark Souls are for sure to be remembered for a long time. Bloodborne too! No doubt that the Legend of Zelda games will be the one series of games that will be remembered by people and their kids and their grandparents. Kingdom Hearts too, because I can definitely picture someone going "Remember when Disney and Square Enix made a game together?"

Lots of games to be honest. They're just that awesome.

Bioshock will always be remembered for how ambiguous it is/was

Zelda cant really be remembered since it will (I think) go on forever as a eternal part of gaming culture

If breath of the wild is any indication than a very long development time can be the best thing ever and I am sure that nomura will give his all for this project

You know, I've always been curious about playing Bioshock. Everyone tells me that the franchise is immensely interesting, and that it's pretty revolutionary! And well, I think that long after we are gone, I think Zelda will keep being a part of a gamer's life, so it'll always be remembered!

Yeah, Nomura has always been passionate about his projects, and Kingdom Hearts III is no exception! It's going to be something truly beautiful, I can tell you that much! :D

Breath of the Wild will be remember for sure, even if they make a better sequel,BOTW will be remembered for breaking the Zelda formula to create something truly special(you could say A Link Between Worlds started this whole breaking the Zelda conventions, but it wasn't to the same extend as BOTW).

they are already working on the next title. My guess is that they will either go back to the roots or break the formula even more another wind waker style game would be awesome there is much potential with the "free on the open sea" concept. If not maybe we could go under ground or to space or something

Interesting, interesting! At some point, I plan to get into Bioshock so I can immerse myself in the storyline, ya know?
