Iscreamer1 100 Posted February 20, 2018 Now that Vanitas is confirmed to be in Kingdom Hearts III, can we PLEASE give him a chance at redemption and make his backstory in the novels canon in the game, like flashbacks or something? Maybe he can be the one to deliver the final blow to Xehanort. 6 Master Keeper, The Transcendent Key, DoltonsR and 3 others reacted to this
Yuya Sakaki 5,212 Posted February 20, 2018 I honestly wouldn't mind something like this. Vanitas' theme was amongst the "Heros and Heroines" medley piece in the KH Orchestra OST. Yes, one can argue that it's only there because it's made up of Sora's, Roxas' and Ven's themes, but exclusive canon material has been shown off at them sooooo I wouldn't rule the possibility of a hint. Not saying it will happen for a certain, but it could. Peace! 2 The Transcendent Key and Moni_22 reacted to this
KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) No. He is not going to be redeemed. The novels are not canon. He will perish like all the rest of the thirteen. Edited February 21, 2018 by KingdomHearts3
G-SANtos 105 Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) I'm pretty sure he'll be redeemed. I might make a thread that goes deeper on the subject later, but I think the key to Vanitas's redemption is friendship. He needs to become friends with someone to understand what is to care, and my bet is that his friend will be Riku Replica. Perhaps at some point late in the game, something puts Riku Replica in danger, and Vanitas wants to save him, he then asks for help from the heroes, who initially distrust him until Riku and Axel say they want to help. 2) Way to dawn’s heartless emblem keychain: Riku’s pieces Honestly, with the Theme Song trailer showing Riku leaving the Way to Dawn behind, and implying Riku Replica might pick it, that chess piece might as well represent Riku Replica. Awesome Sauce 634 Posted February 20, 2018 How and why would one of the thirteen darknesses be redeemed, exactly? Especially someone who is literally made from the darkness of another?
ocean's rage 772 Posted February 20, 2018 nah vanitas is far to evil
Smithee 327 Posted February 20, 2018 (edited) Especially someone who is literally made from the darkness of another? Well, given this franchise's preachiness about Dark Is Not Evil (despite doing a dirt-poor job of actually showing it)... Connected 978 Posted February 20, 2018 We already have a clone Ventus and two clones of Kairi. I see we have enough.Vanitas is pure evil and that is what his character makes him so great.

Awesome Sauce 634 Posted February 20, 2018 People saying 'can't redeem Van cause he one of the seekers' ButsoisTerra. Pssh... Terraisn'tconfirmedmaybeTerranortbutnotTerra. Well, given this franchise's preachiness about Dark Is Not Evil (despite doing a dirt-poor job of actually showing it)... But he's straight up evil with no redeeming qualities at all, and that message only worked with one, maybe two characters throughout the entire series... The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted February 21, 2018 It would be pretty badass if Vanitas decides to turn things around at the last minute! I've always thought that Vanitas would make a great anti-hero, he'd be the sort of Vegeta or Gajeel of the KH cast! It would certainly be even more badass if his backstory from the light novels was included, as it would give Vanitas more depth as a character! Overall, it'd be amazing if he got a shot at redemption, but for the final blow to Xehanort, I'd much prefer that to be by Sora's hands, ya know? Even if Vanitas doesn't redeem himself, I'm just happy he'll be in the game! Still, it would be badass if he goes the anti-hero route! 2 Yuya Sakaki and Tyranto Rex reacted to this
KH4Real 749 Posted February 21, 2018 Vanitas was already confirmed back in the 2015 trailer and in 3D aswell . Well Vanitas is surprising in Heroes and Heroines he will likely return to the light. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
Tyranto Rex 277 Posted February 21, 2018 I think a possibility is that he "returns" to Ventus so that they together could make a complete person. They are two halves of a complete whole, so maybe they would both be better off being one person again? 2 The Transcendent Key and Awesome Sauce reacted to this
Smithee 327 Posted February 21, 2018 and that message only worked with one, maybe two characters throughout the entire series... Hence the aforementioned "dirt-poor job of actually showing it."

The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted February 23, 2018 I'm very curious to see how Vanitas will act in Kingdom Hearts III. I'm sure he'll have an interesting arc in the game! Whatever happens, I'm just happy he'll be involved with the Seekers Of Darkness and the final chapter of the Xehanort Saga!
