Era 6 Posted January 8, 2018 A curious question I had... Do you guys think KH4 will take the same amount of time in duration (13 years) as KH3 did? In my opinion, no, I think the fact that KH3 has the template of in game assets and characters to implement from and edit rather than having to start brand new on a whole new engine and creating HD assets from the ground up as the team had to do for KH3 is a plus looking forward to a KH4. I know this is very early in terms of discussion; but just a thought... 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this
Connected 978 Posted January 8, 2018 No, I expect that after Kingdom Hearts 3 we will get Kingdom Hearts 4. I remember a interview last year that Nomura was focusing on the future of Kingdom Hearts.(Although he gave me a the feeling he wanted to make a Riku game)
The Key of the Brain 49 Posted January 8, 2018 (edited) I expect we'll need to wait something like 5 years... I expect a full year of support for KH3 (dlc or something like that), the xbox port of KH1.5+2.5 and 2.8, the switch and pc version wich will arrive also on ps4 and xbox with all the games so far, a full and complete remake of 358/2 and maybe KH Re:Coded in Kingdom shader, and then probably after a year we'll get KH4, and of course all of this or almost all will have differents year like the xbox port will be in 2019, the switch and pc version 2020 etc. Edited January 8, 2018 by The Key of the Brain 3 Garrett929, selfKaiHarness and The Deathdealer reacted to this
Komali 594 Posted January 8, 2018 2021 for KH4 or a spinoff is a possible release year, except if they support KH3 with DLC.

KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted January 8, 2018 I would prefer we get to KH3 first, but for purpose of discussion, no it will probably not take as long.
Felixx 6,646 Posted January 8, 2018 Most likely not. Since KH3 will be the end of the Xehanort saga the next one will introduce the new saga, so we probably won’t get several handheld titles like we did the past years and SE can fully focus on KH4. 1 selfKaiHarness reacted to this
KeybladeMasterBalo 504 Posted January 8, 2018 Well... no... like you said, right now they're taking their time on making EVERYTHING NEW in the UE4 for KH3. Once that comes out it will just switch to a normal basis where you kinda just edit and create the necessary stuff. Also the people on the Osaka Team (or whoever it's making it) will have a lot more experience with the engine so the time also decreases on that matter. I still think it would take more than previous KH games where the graphic were a little bit "easier" tho. 3 years might be.
Movies798 1,360 Posted January 8, 2018 I don't know. I hope Kingdom Hearts 4 will be a PS4 game like Kingdom Hearts 3. Hopfully Nomura has a story for Kingdom Hearts 4 that will be his next game after Kingdom Hearts 3.
Mystics Apprentice 2,397 Posted January 8, 2018 I don't know if they'll announce KH4 as early as they had KH3. If that's the case, it might take as long but it might not feel like it since we don't "officially" know that it's coming until much later. I don't think it'll take quite as long as KH3 has regardless, though. KH3 has a lot of loose ends to tie and a huge story to complete, whereas KH4 will be starting anew outside of the Xehanort Saga, so it might not be as complex to develop. John Horton 111 Posted January 8, 2018 No i don't want KH4 to take long as what KH3 did and I don't know if it will be available for the Ps4/XBOX One or not.
The Transcendent Key 12,109 Posted January 9, 2018 Honestly, after Kingdom Hearts III, Nomura deserves a little breather. I'd be willing to wait two to three years before he delves into the next saga, and then Kingdom Hearts IV could probably take maybe three to four years of development after that! But realistically speaking, Japanese people seem to be addicted to work, so if we go by that logic, then we could possibly see Kingdom Hearts IV by the time the series is ready to celebrate its 20th Anniversary in 2022! It'd make sense! And like other members have said, since they have all the assets and groundwork laid out for them with Kingdom Hearts III, it's really only a matter of replicating those existing assets for future KH games, ya know? Shanks0407 34 Posted January 10, 2018 I think that before Kingdom Hearts 4 would be released, Nomura would have to release some in between title between it and Kingdom Hearts 3, just like how BBS, Dream Drop Distance and Re:coded was the bridge between KHII to KHIII. The development on the other hand would not take as long in making Kingdom Hearts 4 as it did in Kingdom Hearts 3 because they are basically using new technology that was just made available to them which will be much of what the future titles would be built in times to come. The Deathdealer 96 Posted January 10, 2018 I suspect KH4 will be a next gen title On 1/9/2018 at 1:28 AM, The Transcendent Key said: Honestly, after Kingdom Hearts III, Nomura deserves a little breather. That depends on whether or not they want to do spin-offs or not, or if they want to let KH3 do it's thing as it's the last of a long running saga before they jump in to the new one. 1 The Transcendent Key reacted to this

Hmm, that is true, Kingdom Hearts IV could be for the PS5! And well, like you said, considering that KHIII will be the last of the Xehanort Saga, I don't think there'll be any spin-offs after that. If anything, there might be full fledged remakes of Days and Re:Coded for PS4, but other than that, I don't see Nomura doing any spin-offs. At most, he'll probably be working on Union X's story, since he said that game will keep going beyond Kingdom Hearts III and tie into the new saga. But yeah, I believe that after KHIII, there won't be any titles in between, thus making KHIV the official start of the new saga, ya know?
rhys0126 82 Posted January 13, 2018 I don’t think so. I’d be perfectly happy with it taking a little bit of time to make sure it’s the best possible game it could be. I’ll probably be playing KH3 for an unhealthy amount of time though, so I won’t complain. Plus, if it’s on PS5 it could literally look like the cgi intros from the first two games and that would be freaking amazing (just guessing since ps4 graphics are roughly 20 years behind modern cgi)
TheKeyofRose 282 Posted January 16, 2018 No, unlike KH3 where they had assets and were building it (Scrapped it then began building from the ground up again.) it'll take a far shorter time Nomura even admitted that KH3 was honestly just announced way too early, with a hypothetical KH4 They have the engine and good amount of the assets and hopefully won't announce it to early this time around .
