Connected 978 Posted December 14, 2017 On Thursday, December 15, 2017, the Walt Disney Company announced a definitive deal to secure assets from 21st Century Fox, Inc. for $52.4 billion. Disney hope this acquisition will allow them to "create more appealing content, build more direct relationships with consumers around the world and deliver a more compelling entertainment experience to consumers wherever and however they choose."The deal was signed by Disney's chief executive Robert A. Iger, a veteran in guiding the company to become a Hollywood leader through a series of acquisitions such as Lucasfilm, Marvel, and Pixar.Disney will be acquiring the film and television studios of 21st Century Fox, which includes 20th Century Fox Film studios and movie blockbusters such as Avatar, Titanic, The Sound of Music, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Hidden Figures, Gone Girl, The Shape of Water, The Martian, and Anastasia. The deal will also allow Disney to bring the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool into their Marvel Cinematic Universe if they so pleased. The acquisition also includes 20th Century Television studios, which have 36 series currently in production, including The Simpsons, Homeland, This is Us, and Modern Family.Furthermore, Disney will be acquiring 21st Century Fox's cable and international TV businesses such as FX and National Geographic. Disney will also be obtaining Fox's 30% stakes in Hulu and 39% current stakes in Sky (along with their planned complete takeover by June 30, 2018).Earlier this year, Disney announced the end of their distribution agreement with Netflix, planning to pull their movies from the streaming service to one of their own new direct-to-consumer streaming service launching in 2019. The deal to acquire 21st Century Fox marks another step in Disney's direct-to-consumer strategy to become a "more viable competitor" to the tech giants in the entertainment business by adapting to the increasing demand of streaming and other digital services. The acquisition does not include Fox Broadcasting network and stations, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, FS1, FS2 and Big Ten Network; these will be listed under a new, separate company called New Fox. <3 What do you make of this takeover by Disney, including many of 21st Century Fox's remarkable IPs? How do you think this could affect the future content of the Kingdom Hearts series? TidusX 0 Posted December 14, 2017 As some of you may know is that Disney was negotiate with Fox to make a deal to let Disney buy (a huge part of) Fox, (Better familiar with 21th Century Fox) Now today the deal has finally sealed and Disney is now proud owner of 21th Century Fox Movies and TV-Series. This could mean that it could open many doors for Kingdom Hearts in terms of world we could visit. Picture it, Kingdom Hearts 4 we could see Sora in worlds like: - Avatar (Movie) - Ice Age - Star Wars 2 & 3 - Deadpool And so many more. What are your thoughts about this? If KH4 goes crazy with the world selection allowing stufff like Star Wars, Avengers, Pixar... i can see them doing a The Simpsons/Ice Age/Avatar/Titan AE/Robots worlds. IwasBornAsVentus 396 Posted December 14, 2017 Blue Sky Studios also has Rio Epic Horton And etc. But it feels strange yet awesome that Ice Age is now Disney owned, kind of like Disney owns ABC.

KH4Real 749 Posted December 14, 2017 Nah the worlds are decided the game is almost complete and ready to be released in 2018. This is great news for the movie Anastasia for future Kingdom Hearts games.
KingdomHearts3 2,591 Posted December 14, 2017 Don't think it'll change a thing now. I agree with this. I think this changes absolutely nothing in regards to Kingdom Hearts and what goes in. For all we know, things might not change even with this purchase of the film and TV assets of 21st Century Fox and nothing from those assets gets added into KH. Elfdemon_ 695 Posted December 14, 2017 I doubt it means anything for Kingdom Hearts.Kingdom Hearts has been around for 15 years and it’s only just now getting Pixar properties in it. So, I doubt 21st Century Fox properties will make it into KH any time soon. And Kingdom Hearts only has “Disney movies” in it. Just because Disney owns a movie or something doesn’t mean it’s a “Disney movie.” Disney owns many things such as ESPN, Lifetime, Touchstone Pictures, etc. None of the movies produced by those properties are considered by Disney to be “Disney movies” even though they’re owned by Disney. I feel like 21st Century Fox properties would fall under that same category.Star Wars movies and Marvel Studios movies are considered by Disney to be “Disney movies,” So, if anything, then those movies would make it into Kingdom Hearts long before 21st Century Fox properties. 1 SnowPint7Fourths reacted to this
Jeeg robot 97 15 Posted December 14, 2017 Looks like Disney wants the control of everything. I only hope they don't include Simpsons nor Family Guy cause they don't fit well with Kingdom Hearts atmosphere.

Merilly 438 Posted December 15, 2017 (edited) That's hard to tell. I know I definitely do not want to see things such as Simpsons or Family Guy in KH, especially the latter, but I doubt they'll include series which have no real plot and have questionable humor anyway for a franchise such as Kingdom Hearts which focuses a great deal on pure topics like friendship. However, there are a lot of movies which would certainly fit KH and quite frankly, the plans to continue the series are already there. If they do not want to recycle a lot of worlds, they're bound to look elsewhere because Disney and Pixar probably cannot keep up with making new movies to such an extent which would be required. Not to mention that not every franchise fits into KH, regardless of how good it is on its own. I feel like that is often neglected just because people liked the movie. Let's say they plan for a new major KH title every 5 years. Since it's boring to only use old worlds we already had several times already, they're going to run out of suitable options soon enough, not taking into account a lot of the series why may be awkward due to style, length, etc. That being said, acquiring 20th Century Fox may not mean anything for KH. I remember the interview where they talked about Marvel and Star Wars in Kingdom Hearts and said it wouldn't be a simple matter to just use them just because Disney acquired the companies related to them. The same issue could probably affect anything 20th Century Fox related. I'm not against them using the suitable movies, especially taking into account that we're going to eventually run out of Disney and Pixar movies which can be used without taking other companies into consideration.
