If you were to be more specific, "Terranort" is the Terra-Xehanort combination immediately after possession up until he stabs himself in the battle against Aqua and locks away his memories. "Apprentice Xehanort" is the being from hereafter, the young man found by Ansem the Wise who would go on to betray him and split into Ansem SoD and Xemnas.
