Interest Check: What kind of Role-Play does everyone want to do?

Recommended Posts

After so many failed attempts at other Role-Play Interest Checks, i have now decided to instead ask everyone what kind of Role-Play would they like to do? what is it are they specifically looking for? i just want to Role-Play with someone about something we all like, either Kingdom Hearts and/or something else, so is there a Role-Play that everyone would like me to create? please tell me.

When I've seen your interest checks, I'v e noticed really one thing thats most common:

They're kind of bare.

You don't really give a ton of details about what you have planned for your RP, so a lot of people don't want to say "yeah I'll sign up" if there's not a lot known about it.

I see, yeah, i know i don't give out a lot of information but by the way, that RP of yours, the Happy Journal, what's it all about? i mean, like a short synopsis of it.

I haven't really wanted to commit to many RP's lately because I've been so busy, and the ones that I do participate in are generally ideas that I love and cannot resist.

I like a lot of original RPs. Anything with an interesting premise that I can integrate new characters to is awesome for me. I also would enjoy something Final Fantasy-related, so long as the idea is still appealing to me (some FF ideas are kind of meh to me when I see them out on paper).

Also, I would LOVE to do a Red vs. Blue or Aldnoah.Zero RP. I've longed to host a RvB one for a while but just don't have the time to organize it. Anything to do with the Fate series also catches my interest.

I very much agree with this statement. I think it's difficult to know if it's something you'd be interested in unless you see the idea out. I also know, for me, at least, if I don't see much detail I fear for the longevity of a RP. When they're too bare-boned I often see RPs die right away, so by default I avoid these RPs because I don't like investing myself in something that won't last.

That's me, at least. I hope that helps. :)

A lot of times you need to know what members on this community likes, particularly ones that RP often or most of the time. Like me for example, I like creating original characters and I also love action. Some of my most favorite games are Kingdom Hearts, Monster Hunter, and Pokémon. And like Shard said, you can't be bland and barren, you need to be descriptive about what the story is. All, if not, most of my RP's got a lot of people hooked because I was very descriptive of what I wanted the story to be. Unfortunately, my RP's failed because not everyone was keeping up (mostly me, I'm not the best leader).

Yeah but from my impression, i think everyone just wants to do a Kingdom Hearts Role-Play, don't get me wrong, i am a true KH fan but it just feels like doing a RP about anything else, even like say Final Fantasy for example seems to be off the books, know what i mean? it just feels like you can't do anything else but a KH RP on a KH fan site, sometimes that's what i feel, i had to cancel my Kingdom Hearts IV RP because of circumstances and i am hesitant to make another one in case no one wants to join.

I think this is also an off-season for RPs.  I've noticed that around the time of the holidays and exams that there are less RP participants than usual.  Perhaps you could restart your Kingdom Hearts IV RP sometime after Thanksgiving, and wait several weeks before starting the actual RP?  I tend to keep my sign-ups open for several weeks before starting the RP, and also create statuses stating that I'm seeking players.  I've found this strategy to help a lot myself, though I think that when people are more freed up from college they will start roleplaying more.

I actually prefer non-KH RPs because I think there's more room for creativity and feel that a lot of the created RPs aren't surrounded around KH, so I think you may find success eventually.  Good luck. :)

Thank you :], hmm...i actually might make an RP focused around both action battles and music involved with one another upon hearing your suggestion while listening to this music at the moment, it creates the feel to fight, strive and survive-https://youtu.be/ys5zRdy66jY

What i mean by that kind of RP is that music sets the feel for the action battles and you could tell what direction the RP was going with each different set of music going on in the background, know what i mean?

To me, your RPs tend to seem more like controlled RPs, like the conventional tabletop game. You seem to hardline what you want and that's rather unappealing to me.

I like RP's where there's some freedom in player actions. Structured, sure but I'd like to be able to feel a part of making the story. I'm not fond of one main character, rather there's a story to tell for everyone. Especially being able to have downtime and understand each character's motivations.

I tried and failed in my Gifted RP at letting the players feel like a part of the story even though it was my main goal because the beginning was far too structured. I hope to reboot something like that over the summer or winter breaks I have.

I also prefer original stories. It feels to me like it gives room for more creativity and doesn't alienate me because the series isn't foreign and niche to me.

What do you mean by hardline? i don't understand, is that where a person takes control of the story too much?

Yes, though I suppose a better term I could use would be railroading. It seemed like some of your RP ideas were just going to be you telling everyone else what to do. As much of a failure both of my recent Dissidia RPs were, I at least felt that what happened next was entirely unpredictable, and that made it fun.
