MasterXemnas 2,285 Posted October 16, 2010 Well kh3 isn't coming for a while now, so more games the merrier.
aubreyloveskh 16 Posted October 16, 2010 I think we should have more spin-offs, only because kh3 will probably not be out for a while. I am pretty sure nomura said it wouldn't be ready by the 10th anniversary in one of his interviews, plus its not really in development, so we should have a while until it comes out. So they should make more games before then so I don't get bored. Also, I dont see how Sora96 can know that there will not be anymore games for all of the systems he listed, considering we do not know when kh3 will come out. Possibly those systems will be dead after kh3 comes out, but that does not mean they can't make games for those systems before kh3 comes out. If kh3 is not in development right now, and they only have two other spin-offs to work on, including re:coded which releases in January, then I would not be shocked if they were able to make more spin-offs before kh3. Sorry if that sounded rude. (:
Mistress Sinsie 3 Posted October 16, 2010 I actually agree with Sora96. The nintendo ds is being slated to be retired by its predecessor the 3DS. Usually companies stop planning to make games on a system once it has been announced that they are creating a newer and better system. They see more dollar signs with the newer product than with the old. Not only that it means better graphics and more room for better engines. We already have one kh game that is being planned to come out on the 3DS, why would they take a step back and plan a new game with the older model? I could see it if it were a case like RE COM. However they barrowed a lot from KH2's physics engine they might as have just through the card game idea out the window. But, this was planned to be a low budget and if I remember correctly (prolly dont) but RE COM had been planned to come out before the death of the ps2. Which makes it the same case as RE CODED. REmakes will be slated to go on the older machines. But all brand new games are going to go with where they can make the most profit. I've seen the patterns through out the years with rare exceptions. Might I add that the psp was doing terrible against the ds for years and years. Now to get back on topic. Yes I would want another spin off on the other org members. But I'd only want it if it meant they higher a separate team where its people have no connection to the production of KH3. ::Heart_XIII:: 2 Posted October 16, 2010 Wow, quite a debate going on in here. O_o; I wouldn't quite call them "spin-offs" either, because they all contribute to the main plot in some way. But I wouldn't mind seeing more games. I'd like that better than remakes. (I'd really like one about the Organization, or about Axel and Saix's plan.) And I saw someone mentioning KH games on the PSP Go? That's never going to happen, because the PSP Go really sucks and no ones buying them. Besides, won't Disney have a problem with them making a downloadable game with their characters?
hatok 6,413 Posted October 16, 2010 Says you, the ps2 went on for ten years then quietly died, the psp can do the same, and Sony has not annouced making a psp2, yet. The PS2 was wildly successful though. The PSP's not even close.
Think Pink 1,967 Posted October 16, 2010 No. I'm sick of these pointless games. I mean, it's a KH game, so I'll buy it, but I wish they'd just stop stalling and get over with making KH3. ._.
FireStorm 162 23 Posted October 16, 2010 To everyone saying that there haven't been any spin-offs so far, look at final fantasy x-2. This was a sequel to final fantasy x but because it was about a secondary character (yuna) it is a spin-off. This is the same scenario as in Days and BBS. I understand that everyone is trying to say they are important games, but even canon games/movies about games can be spin-offs (final fantasy x-2, final fantasy advent children etc.)

Tidus is the main character of final fantasy 10, thats why he was in dissidia and yuna wasn't. Wait, i've got it, FF7 Crisis Core, Zack is a secondary protagonist in FF7, but is the main character in Crisis Core. It's still canon to the series, but its a spin-off of FF7. Roxas in days is the same as Zack in Crisis Core, meaning there's been at least one spin-off in the KH series. That's a better example
Sora96 17,256 Posted October 17, 2010 In a way your saying the start of Kingdom Hearts II is a spin off.
FireStorm 162 23 Posted October 17, 2010 Do you know the meaning of spin-off? Spin-offs are games where somebody other than the primary character of the series is focused on. That is what happens in Days. Roxas is a main character, but still isn't the primary character of the series, Sora is. Most spin-offs are canon to the overall storyline, but they are still spin-offs, (eg. FFx-2, FF7 Crisis Core, Virtua Fighter 4; Evolution etc.) The three games i just said are canon to the storyline that they are in, and important, but spin-offs nonetheless. Sora96 17,256 Posted October 17, 2010 There are not spin off's in the Kingdom Hearts series. If you don't believe me and everyone else play through the games again before you play Kingdom Hearts III.

Tidus is the protagonist in that he is the character the player is controlling most of the time. When it comes down to it though, most FF games don't have a true protagonist, but ratehr several equally important characters. Lightning is supposed to be the protagonist of FF13, yet the story barely touches on her.

Depends on your definition of the word "spin-off". The one most people use is the one you provided, in which the story focuses on a different character. However, in a much broader and more accurate sense of the word, a spin-off is a work derived from a pre-existing piece. A spin-off for this series would be something that is entirely irrelevant to the series yet still retains some similarities. For example, a game in which the main focus is of Xion's relationship with her bed. Obviously, this holds absolutely no importance whatsoever as well as not being canon. This is a true spin-off. By that definition, the only real spin-off this series has had is that terrible Verizon game Disney made.
Sora96 17,256 Posted October 17, 2010 V-Cast is the Verizon game.
Reversal 53 Posted October 17, 2010 V-Cast is the Verizon game. Yeah, that. I don't bother trying to remember the name because it was so irrelevant and such a waste of money :
Space Cowboy 1,392 Posted October 17, 2010 No Kingdom Hearts game is a spin-off, they are just side stories contributing to the main story. I've had enough of KH sidestories for one lifetime, but I'm sure a couple of more will come out until we can get KH3. KH3D seems meaningful though. Reversal 53 Posted October 17, 2010 Nope, thats all of them. Excuse me? Nomura announced two mystery games, one of which is 3D. Then Re:coded was announced, but he said that it was like another game was added to the roster, bringing the total count up to three. BBSFM has not been confirmed to be the remaining game, therefore, there is still one remaining.
