Will the Riku Replica become a Seeker of darkness? If so maybe he is the Key to bringing Xion back?

From some hints DDD has shown us the Repliku is most likely gonna return in KH3 through the Time Travel introduced in that game which from my personal opinion I'm super hyped to see this character return as him and Vexan were my favorites in Chain of Memories (if his return is true that is). Plus who doesn't want to see a Boss fight with the Repliku as older Riku or Sora? But besides from that this has got me thinking. At this point Xion is most likely gonna return as well but the problem is how will Sora and crew accomplish that? At first I thought in KH3 Sora would visit Radiant Garden to have Evan create a new Xion replica (I know that it doesn't make that much sense but it was the only thing I could think of at the time). But if the Riku replica is returning then maybe he is the Key to bringing back Xion as they are both Replicas from the same program. Plus It would make much more sense than having Evan make a New Xion from scratch which would most likely have new memories from scratch as well so what would be the point? Although we also have to think how is Xion gonna be brought back if no one remembers her? I'm sure at some point in KH3 sora nd Co. will somehow pull that off.

the Riku Replica shouldn't come back, imo. he served his story purpose in CoM and there's no reason to drag him into KH3. we've got enough duplicates as it is. 

 

and idk how they're planning on bringing Xion back when she's just a replica with no set appearance. at least from what i understand. doesn't her appearance change based on who is looking at her and how the memories inside her relate to them? and it's not like she still exists in some form right? i mean at least Roxas is still inside Sora so you could sort of see how they could bring him back since there's something left of him. Xion just up and vanished. 

 

not that the story will let any of this stop it, i'm sure. no doubt everyone will return and the Key to Return Hearts will just poof their new hearts back into existence, now that it's pretty clear the series is saying anything can grow a heart.

He didn't want to be known as Riku's Replice, he wanted to be his own person. His arc in Chain Of Memories basically consisted of that, and since he was antagonizing Riku in the hopes of becoming his own person, that's a perfect vessel to have on the side of the Seekers! It's like having the real Riku's power, even if it's just a duplicate! Remember that Xehanort likes to manipulate other people's minds, so he'd probably promise Repliku that by helping him with his goal, he could become a completely new person. Who doesn't like the sound of that?

 

As for Xion though, that'll probably be left for Sora finding the Key To Return Hearts, or rather, materializing it, since said Key is probably the data that Ansem the Wise stored inside Sora, therefore that data allowing Sora the basic building blocks to extract said key from his own heart, ya know?

if Repliku doesn't come back, some other form of Riku will. It's basically required. Riku can't go five seconds without a plot thread about giving in to darkness, but having him finally come face to face with that would work well to highlight his growth and HOPEFULLY finally end that arc

Riku Replica is an interesting topic when it comes to making a return. I think we can all agree he had a solid and overall fantastic arc. One the subject of him being a seeker of darkness...who knows? I believe he should be a seeker, as he was truly determined to make a name for himself and essentially become his own person. He had a sad ending and I feel like he would want a second chance. Like, The Transcendent Key basically said above: Xehanort likes manipulating people and bringing them over to his side. The Riku Replica definitely would fall for Xehanort's tricks.

 

I also feel like the "Riku doppelganger" wasn't in KHDDD for no reason. I believe it was actually the Riku Replica. He didn't have golden eyes just yet, but perhaps he hadn't fully become half-Xehanort yet. Anyway, I was satisfied with Riku Replica's end, but I would totally support him returning as a seeker of darkness. Also, wasn't it mentioned by Young Xehanort in KHDDD that they tried converting Riku to a seeker of darkness in the past, but failed? Well...the next best thing is the Riku Replica.

I think it would be interesting to have Riku Replica be one of the Seekers of Darkness via time travel. I think it would show an interesting aspect of what would happen if Riku truly gave in to the darkness and end up as one of the Seekers of Darkness. Drawing parallels to Riku but further showing the risks of darkness; showing how a character we know and love could have ended up.

 

The thought alone gets me excited. Heck, the Riku we see in Prankster's Paradise in DDD could have been Riku Replica who time traveled from a point in time before his death.

It's also possible that it was the world dreaming about Riku from KH1, but that wouldn't make sense since he wasn't wearing a black coat in KH1. And like I said before, if he's from the past, then Young Xehanort would have to be there with him, which he wasn't. So, I'm not exactly sure. Nomura's definitely got some explaining to do.

the black coat thing is easy to write off, you need protection to use dark portals. Most Xehanorts have it, one way or another, Riku doesn't.

Well, whether or not that Riku was just a figment of the Realm Of Sleep or an actual vessel of Xehanort's, we won't know until Kingdom Hearts III! My money's on him being Repliku though, and him being a Seeker makes sense, since he wanted to be his own person, and not a copy of Riku, ya know?
