Roleplay Beacon: Before the Fall

Cracking a smile, Raevus barked "Stay focused!" Clasping Onyx's hand, the other slightly on Lucas' open back, he bellowed out to Lucas "Go for it!"

"Hang on!" Lucas said, aiming down the sights of his rifle. He focused on a spot right in front of the ruins, and next thing they new, they were standing in that spot, the momentum causing them to fall over from the sudden stop.

Onyx tumbled over at the sudden stop, falling to the ground along with the rest. At the very least, they were safely back down, and Onyx was grateful. He sat up, making sure all of his limbs were attached, before looking around at the rest. "Everyone alive?" He then turned to Lucas with a smile. "So that's your semblance? Lucas, my man, you are truly amazing. You know that?" He said. A familiar screech caught his attention, looking up as the Nevermore, with its wings frozen, made a crash landing right into the ruins, bringing down whatever building or remaining structure that stood in its way down with it. "Ouch...that had to hurt." Onyx said, standing on his feet. "So, um, anyone have a plan? Because I think that that Grimm night now have a personal vendetta against us."

"All we need is the artifacts, we don't have to fight it." Lucas said, running to the artifacts. "Chess pieces?" he asked, grabbing a white Rook and heading to the others. "If you guys already have yours, then let's go."

Onyx lowered his arms, the aura disappearing before deactivating his gauntlets. He turned to Lucas, smirking a bit as he took out the Golden Rook that they had picked out. "We already got ours. Man, we think alike, don't we?" Onyx said with a smile as he spun the rook in his hands. "Let's get back, then! I wonder if they'll give us lunch, or dinner. Oh, and to see what group we will be in too!" Onyx said, looking over to Raevus. "I think it's definite now that Raevus and I will be in the same group! Same goes with you and Melody." Onyx chuckled, beginning to walk back. "Let's get back. We have to let Mr. Ozpin know that we made it out alive!"

"Yeah, back to the cliff!" he said, running away from the ruined ruins and the Nevermore, which was slowly getting up.

Raevus made his way up off the ground after that teleport. It had him a little dizzy, but he made it out okay. Yet, still, he hated Lucas' idea of just running away from the Grimm. Sure it was dangerous to fight it, but it's probably even more dangerous to leave it. Grimm do know how to hold a grudge.

 

Lending a hand to Melody and seeing if she were alright, Raevus said "C'mon, let's go. Don't want anything to get ugly."

Melody fell down after being teleported to safety. She sits up, glad to see that everyone is ok. "i'm okay! And we're alive, woo!" She said. Then she nods as she grabbed his hand and getting up. "right. Let's go."

Lucas lead the way, ending up at a bridge that lead right to the cliff. Just then they heard a screech behind them as the Nevermore flew into the air, shattering the ice around it's wing. It flew past them onto the other end of the bridge, blocking their way. "Damn, looks like we have no choice but to fight. This is gonna be tough guys." he said, pulling out his sniper rifle. "But I think we can do this if we work together."

Onyx groaned, sounding annoyed as he scratched the back of his head. "What a stubborn birdy!" Onyx said, smiling at Lucas' suggestion. "I agree. I think, if we work together, we might actually have a chance of taking down this thing!" Onyx said, winking at the group as he reactivated his gauntlets, his dark colored aura surging outside once more. "But after this, I say we should totally get a victory dinner! On me!" Onyx said, extending his hands as a scythe slowly formed in his hands, spinning it around before resting it against his shoulder. "We need to solve this the easy way; off with its head! Three of us will have to distract it while the fourth one goes for the kill."

"you have got to be kidding me!" She complained. Melody sighs and nods to Lucas and Onyx, taking her guns out. Melody put one of her headphones on, only leaving one headphone on her left ear. She giggles when Onyx formed a scythe in his hands. "you're not the only one." She pressed two buttons on both pistols, then thrown them in the air, both guns were combined and extending a long handle at the bottom and the long blade at the top. She catch it, spinning it around and placed it on her shoulder. She then played a song through her music player.

Lucas' suggestion to stay was right up Raevus' alley. He drew the sword again, and stood readily prepared for the battle.

"Go, I'll distract it for you!" Lucas said, firing two ice rounds at it's feet, freezing it to the bridge, before teleporting to it's back, separating the rifle into the pistol and katana. He fired a couple ice rounds at it's tail, freezing it to the bridge as well. And gave it a few slashes with the katana as it struggled to shake him off.

Onyx smiled. "I'm gonna aim for the head, then!" Onyx said, watching as Lucas began to run off. "Be careful!" He called out. He watched the Nevermore, his eyes darting as he looked for an opening. Once he saw it, he dashed right up to it as it struggled to pull itself off the bridge. He used the ice to slide underneath the Nevermore, pulling the scythe up as he allowed the blade of the scythe to slash across the stomach as he slid. Once he reached the end, he slammed his scythe into the ground, using it to spin back to facing the Nevermore. He shifted the scythe, turning the blade into a large hammer. "Activate: Wind Dust!" Onyx called, the aura changing color. "(Oh this is going to hurt.)" Onyx thought, wincing mentally as he proceeded to slam the hammer into the ground. The force of it caused the aura to shatter, the force pushing Onyx upwards into the air. Whenever the aura was shattered in such a violent or unexpected matter, it was like a balloon exploding, and all of the force was thrown outwards with whatever dust was affecting it. To Onyx, it was like knives cutting up his body from the inside. But now wasn't the time to complain. As he fell back down, he reformed a scythe. "Activate: Ice Dust!" Onyx called, the aura changing as the ice hardened it, causing the blade to sharpen even further. He landed around the neck, the scythe's blade wrapping itself against the Nevermore's neck as he spun around it momentarily before landing on it, pulling on his blade against the Nevermore's neck. "Melody, Raevus! We need to weaken it more!"

 

(I want to give Melody and Raevus a chance to attack before we kill this thing)

"Got it!" She said. She changed her scythe back into pistols and used ice dust to shoot the nevermore, charged towards it as she shoots with normal bullets. "almost there!"

At Onyx's beckon, Raevus charged towards the Nevermore's neck. With blade in hand, he swung towards the Nevermore's neck on the opposite side of Onyx.

Lucas did a backflip off of the Nevermore's back, and began spinning in midair. With his katana being held out, he was essentially a bladed top as he came down on the Nevermore's neck. With the combined attack from the four of them, they were able to behead the giant Grimm, with Lucas standing crouched behind Onyx and Raevus. He gave a sigh of relief and said "We did it."

Onyx panted, dismissing his weapon as he stepped off the Nevermore, watching it disappear into nothing. His bones ached, and his stomach felt like it wanted to twist itself inside out. But the happiness of actually having beat a Nevermore, out of all Grimm, overpowered any worry. He forced a smile, walking over to Lucas. "Dude." He then turned to face Raevus and Melody. "We are...AMAZING!" Onyx said, throwing his arms into the air. He then proceeded to pull Lucas, Raevus and Melody into his arms, wrapping them around their shoulders rather uncomfortably, but determined to not leave anyone out. "You guys as so sick! Lucas with your Katana going, swoooosh! And Melody, with your pistols like, pew pew pew pew! And Raevus, with your blade going swiiiiiiiish!" Onyx said, putting emphasis on the sound effects as he moved his arms around. "If we don't get a medal from Ozpin or something it should be like, a crime." Onyx chuckled, his expression suddenly changing at the realization. "Wait, Ozpin! We have to get up that cliff before sundown!" Onyx said as he finally let go of them.

"Yeah." Lucas said, his pistol turning back into the sheath and sheathing his katana. "If you guys would like, I've been meaning to try something with my semblance. If you can quickly climb up, I'm sure I can Teleport us to the edge of the cliff. I've just never tried Teleporting onto something vertical, just horizontal."

Melody smiles and started cheering after killing the Nevermore, until Onyx pulled her and the guys in his arms and does a group hug. It was rather uncomfortable. "Onyx... Can't breathe..." She said. After that, Melody gasps. "oh yeah, you're right! We gotta go!"

Raevus strode along. At the suggestion of Lucas' teleport, he claimed "Eh, I'd rather walk it. Not big on that kinda thing."

 

For a moment, Raevus spaced out. Looking upward to the sky, he thought he saw his father's proud glean, as if to say "Welcome to Beacon." His eyes watered a little, but he realized quickly and before the others noticed, and drew them back. Hastily, he asked "Ready?"

Onyx wrapped his arms around Lucas. "Lucas. Your semblance has yet to seize to amaze me!" Onyx said with a smirk. "Hope you have a good aim for us to reach the cliff. We don't want to end up being pancakes, you know." Onyx said as he smiled. He was kind of jealous. A teleporting semblance? That was amazing all on it's own. "Do you think Ozpin will award us a medal for defeating the Nevermore?"

"Probably not." he said, shaking Onyx off him. "We did just as we were told, we found the ruins, grabbed the artifacts, and killed everything in our path. The only thing we might get is bonus points. And it seems my partner, and yours, have decided to head back up the cliff on foot. I don't know about you, but I'm certainly not going to go ahead without my partner."

Onyx smiled, beginning to walk with Lucas. "Right. I don't want to get left behind by Raevus either, so let's get going." Onyx said, chuckling a bit as he hurried over to catch up with the others, all making their way back to Beacon Academy. Now, they would hand over the artifacts collected and Ozpin would be placing them all in different teams. He already knew that Raevus and him were going to be in the same team. That was a given. "I have to send mom a message after all this. She's going to be so psyched and will want to know every detail. Helio Trope too."
